Over GDA's existance on the web, we've had Fan of the Week on several occassions. Now it comes time for a whole new era in Green Day history with the release of 21st Century Breakdown, so I figured nowwould be a good time to start this again. For you guys that have never seen this on GDA, here's how it works.

  Every Sunday I'm gonna randomly choose a person from that week's submissions, and post them here. As soon as I pick that person and post it on GDA, that week's submissions will be deleted, leaving a fresh start for the next week. So if you choose to submit for this, please make sure you check if you're choosen each week.

When ever life gets too much to bear and no one else wants to know, Green Day are always there. I'm addicted. It's not about how many CD's I own or how many concerts I've been to. "I'm not gonna say that I should be Nimrod Of The Week because I have a whole crapload of Green Day merch, or I have every CD they've ever made. I feel I should be Nimrod Of The Week because I always feel like I'm one with the band. I feel like I'm part of something great and something exciting. I feel that being a Green Day fan isn't just listening to the music and doing things like them, but it's feeling like you belong with the band. "I should be Nimrod of the week because Green Day has changed me in so many ways experiencing good and bad things throughout my life. My mom was the one who made me grow up listening and loving Green Day as much (and even more) as I do today. She told me she would take me to go see them in concert but about 3 years ago she got cancer and passed away December 13, 2008. Exactly 7 months later I got to go to my first ever concert to see Green Day in Chicago. I can't tell you enough how much this band means to me. I have collected all their albums and have so many other Green Day merchandise. Whatever mood I am in Green Day always makes it better and beyond. They have inspired me to play and write my own music, not to be afraid to express yourself and go wild, and made me become a stronger person. I am a proud Green Day fan and nothing can ever top them."

"Let me put it this way... whenever anything Green Day shows up anywhere, like on T.V. or the radio, or on a magazine cover or anything like that, everyone I know turns to me, tilts their head and smiles. =] To me, Green Day isn't a band. They're my life source, ha ha. When I was little, I couldn't go to bed without the Dookie album being played. I could sing you every lyric to every Green Day song ever written backwards and forwards. Without Green Day, I wouldn't be who I am today. Some people don't realize how much music can change a person, and Green Day has definatly changed me for the better. "I think I should be the nimrod of the week because I'm mad about Green Day. Everytime I see a picture of GD in a magazine or something I cut it and paste it with my (Green Day of course) posters. People also says it's 'weird' for a girl like me to like a band like them, but you don't need to have and specific behaviour, gender, age, or whatever to love them. Another reason why I think I should be the nimrod of the week is because I feel deeply identified with GD lyrics, and I've them tattooed in my heart. (And I wake up everyday singing MINORITY :D )"
