Adam Selzer, an author from Chicago, posted up this essay about Green Day today. He writes about first seeing the band at a club in Atlanta, GA in 1995, and also talks about the backlash from "punk purists" back then towards the band. He was reminded of that same sentiment seeing the reactions when American Idiot became the success it did, and most recently when the band performed with the musical cast at the Grammys. I enjoy reading stuff like that from different points of view, especially when they're well thought and written as his was - so take a moment to go read it.

[newsImage]121209_rockband.jpg[/newsImage]Many of you have commented or written in saying that GameStop has Green Day Rock Band set for a June 1 release date. As far as we know, that's only a guess. GameStop will often pick a date when they begin taking pre-orders, and will later adjust it with the actual date when it's released. Green Day nor Harmonix (developers for the game) have announced the actual release date.

Game Stop is currently listing the game for $60 (game only), and available for the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii. We're still quite a few months away from the game being released, so we should wait to see if they'll include any special packages with the release.
