[img=020911_davey.jpg]Yahoo News has announced that AFI's frontman, Davey Havok, will be joining the cast of the American Idiot musical for two weeks starting March 1, directly after Billie Joe's final performance February 27th. The news comes as indie-rocker Melissa Etheridge wraps up her performance as St. Jimmy in the musical.

American Idol contestant Justin Guarini will also be joining the cast March 1st. I'm not 100% sure what role he'll be joining as - but we had heard that Michael Esper (who plays Will in the musical) will be leaving the show at the same time Billie Joe does to start work on another production.

Many Green Day fans got a taste of Davey Havok last summer when AFI opened for Green Day during their North American tour - Davey joined Green Day on stage a couple times, once to help sing 'Who Wrote Holden Caulfield'. The guys have all been friends for a number of years. (Remember this quote from Billie Joe, "I heard Davey Havok has a brand of eyeliner out now... its AFI-liner").

We'll be posting our review of Billie Joe as St. Jimmy tomorrow (Thursday). It's an in-depth look at his performance in the show written by our very own J'net. So, check back for that later. For now, what are your thoughts on Davey joining? I think he actually has some of the same physical traits as Tony Vincent - and I think the persona is gonna come through quite well through his version. It'll be interesting to see how the character changes from each actors portrayal.
