According to the World Cup of Hockey and the NHL, Green Day is scheduled to perform at the World Cup of Hockey Fan Village in downtown Toronto on September 23rd.

The band's performance, starting at 6:30pm, will be part of the World Cup of Hockey Fan Village Festival and the culmination of an event celebrating the members of Canada's 2016 Olympic team.

Tickets for the event are $25 CAD will be available for purchase via Ticketmaster beginning next Thursday, September 8th, at 10:00am ET. For more information, read the World Cup of Hockey and NHL's announcement here.

NHL's announcement also states that this performance will be the first date on Green Day's upcoming (yet-to-be-announced) fall tour. In related news, it also appears that Green Day will be touring Europe in early 2017. According to an article by PixBear, the band will be playing a show in Paris, France on February 3rd. The website also reporting that tickets for the show will go on sale next Friday, September 9th.

I think it's safe to speculate that a Green Day world tour announcement is imminent.
