Yesterday, we told you to go vote for Green Day to help them take home the European MTV awards for "Best Live" and "Best Rock" band. The award ceremony will take place this Sunday, November 6 in Rotterdam, Netherlands at 9pm CET.

Now, Green Day have announced that they will be appearing at the ceremony to perform and accept a special honor: MTV's Global Icon Award! Here's what a Viacom executive has to say about Green Day being recognized:

"Green Day is without question, one of the worlds’ most influential rock bands. For over two decades, they’ve introduced new generations of fans from around the globe to their impassioned lyrics and raw musical power. We’re incredibly proud to have Green Day as this year’s MTV EMA Global Icon Award honoree."

Green Day will join a pretty impressive list of past Global Icon Award winners: Duran Duran, Ozzy Osbourne, Eminem, Whitney Houston, Queen and Bon Jovi. Not too shabby!

At this point, details are scarce — the full list of EMA performers and presenters is still being announced. We do know that artists like Bruno Mars, Kings of Leon, OneRepublic will be taking part in the night's events. Specific performance details also aren't too clear, but its safe to say that the band will perform one of the singles from Revolution Radio. Check back for information about live streaming the event on Sunday!

To add to the fun and help Green Day take home two more awards, our @GDA Twitter account will be retweeting fans who share the voting link and hashtag #VoteGreenDay.
