As you've probably noticed, GDA has been inactive for the past year due to technical problems - but good news, we're back! So let's do a quick recap of 2021's Green Day news. You might be surprised that a lot actually happened to keep us entertained in Green Day land, despite the pandemic!

6 February: Green Day opened the 10th NFL Honors in Los Angeles.

20 February: The Network performed Threat Level Midnight live on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Obviously, The Network have nothing to do with Green Day, but it's tradition at this point, isn't it? Watch the video here.

21 February: Green Day released Here Comes The Shock.

20 April: Billie Joe appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss his Audible podcast, 'Welcome to My Panic,' in which he discusses the stories behind Green Day songs and shares some acoustic performances. Watch the video below and read an article about the podcast here.



17 May: Green Day released a new single, Pollyanna.

17 June: The Coverups played at the Golden Bull in Oakland to celebrate the bar reopening. Read about it here.

26 June: Billie Joe and Mike were interviewed by Oakland Coffee about, well, coffee. Read Billie Joe's interview here and Mike's here.

29 June: Green Day Funko Pops were announced.

16 July: Billie Joe appeared on Good Morning America to discuss the Hella Mega Tour with Rivers Cuomo.



17 July: A new side project called The Upside Downers, featuring Billie Joe, Greg Schneider, Jason White and Chris Dugan, was announced. A live EP, Rockin' At Golden Bull, was released for Record Store Day.

20 July: Green Day played a surprise club show in Tulsa, OK.

21 July: Oakland Coffee announced behind the scenes videos from the Hella Mega Tour. Sign up for free and watch the videos on their website.

24 July: The Hella Mega Tour kicked off in Dallas, TX.

6 September: The Hella Mega Tour ended in Seattle, WA.

10 September: Green Day released a live video of Rock and Roll All Nite from the Hella Mega Tour.



18 September: Green Day played the Life Is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas.



5 November: Green Day released another new song, Holy Toledo.

16 November: It was announced that Green Day will play the Super Bowl Music Fest on 12 February, 2022.

10 December: A live album, BBC Sessions, was released with tracks from 1994 to 2001.

17 December: Kerplunk turned 30. Merch was released on Green Day's official store to celebrate.

19 December: Green Day teased new music recorded at RAK Studios in London, England.



30 December: The Boo EP was added to Spotify and Apple Music.

More shows have been announced for Europe in 2022. Green Day will also be playing the Shaky Knees Festival and Innings Festival in the US, as well as Rock In Rio in Brazil.
