Billie Joe is on the cover of this months "Guitar Legends" magazine. They chose "Wake Me Up" as one of the biggest songs of the year. Inside (pg. 80) they have 'Wake Me Up' written out with all the guitar tab. There is also a decent sized poster of Billie Joe inside (view). So if you're intrested go out and buy it. You can click the cover on the left to view it full size.

We now have just over 2500 photo's up in the fan art section. A lot of the work is really amazing. I invite you guys to check it out, and if you'd like come and talk about it here.

Gibson will be coming out with a Billie Joe Les Paul JR Signature Series sometime later this year (click image on right to expand). As you may know, Mike already has his Fender Signature Bass, and back in 1998 'Slingerland' put out the Tré Cool Spitfire Signature Series (view) Seems like we nearly got a Green Day line of instruments going.

You guys can vote for Green Day in the NME Awards for "Best International Band" here.

We've added some more Green Day and Adeline merchandise to the merch page.

There is a new poll for you guys.

Hey everyone. Make sure to check out www.greenday.com as they have a nice long post with tons of stuff about awards and things they were nominated for this past year. Rather than trying to summarize or quote it, just check it out for yourselves.

Here is an fun article for you guys to check out about how "Green Day have to win the International Group Award".

There's really no Green Day news coming out. Nothing worthwhile. While we work on a few site updates to keep you busy, we invite you all to join the forum and talk with other Green Day fans.

You can click here to register, and after you do please read our "Guidelines" to save us all the trouble of e-slapping you.

Thanks!

Edit: The Fan of the Week has been updated this week. Congrats to AJ.

Green Day won "Best International Group" at the Swedish 'Rock Bear' awards.

Visit this page to download an interview with Tré from last September on WBRU radio right before the East Rutherford stadium show.

Green Day sponsored and autographed a 10ft guitar that will be auctioned off in Phoenix, AZ Feburary 4th. The money raised from the auctions will go to support the 'Big Brothers Big Sisters' and the 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame'. Click here to check out the Green Day guitar, and click here for more information about the auction.

Hey you sexy mother fuckers. Mike is on the cover of this months Bass Guitar magazine. The article is an interview with Mike and producer Rob Cavallo about the bass sound in American Idiot.

Below are the scans from the magazine.
Cover - Fender Ad - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5

There are a couple pages of Green Day in this weeks Kerrang! Magazine. Mostly about their live show, but also a small blurb about their old drummer John Kiffmeyer. Our thanks to Ros for sending in these scans of the articles to GDA.

Have you ever wanted to see Billie kick someone's ass? Well we have a short clip of Billie jumping into the crowd at a show in 1997 in Fillmore, CA. Apparently the guy was being a jackass with other people, but we can't really tell. Anyways, watch for yourself, it's pretty inspiring. Click here to download, then talk about the video here.

For all you MySpace lovers we have created a GDA MySpace Group for you to join, talk, and meet with other Green Day fans on there.

As hesitant as I am to ask, we need your help. Our bills have come in, and last month wasn't a very good month of income for GDA since we were gone most of the month. Our server bills are up to $450 this month, and we would appreciate any donations. That $450 is for our main server, forum server, and our media server (which is in the process of being setup). We appreciate any help from you guys.

Well it sure didn't take you guys long to get the comments banned. Remember, this section is for fun, and it is a look-alike page, it's not an identical twin page. It is for fun, and it is for people who either hear they look like one of them member, or think they do. That does not mean every characteristic looks the same. Open up your imagination for a minute and have fun.

This week's Fan of the Week has been updated. Congrats to Melanie.

After redesigning a page for the lookalikes, we finally have it up and running. Check out the page here. It is set up very differently now. It is set up as a rating system - there is no winner. I know you have all seen the 'hot or not' pages, and this is like it. So make sure to have fun with it. You can leave comments as well. There is a login part to it which is only important if you wish to upload your own lookalike images. You can login and upload your own images, or an easier alternative is just to email me with the picture, and i will size it for you and put it up. Enjoy

We have added "Going to Pasalacqua" from the 1990 show at Pinole High School to the video downloads.

Green Day landed on Vh1's top 40 Freakiest Concert Moments with their performance at Woodstock in 1994. You can watch the show on Vh1 this coming Wednesday 8PM EST.

The extra media downloads have been fixed for Firefox and Mac users.
Posted Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 11:09am by Andres
We have rebuilt the extra media section with a new player and more organized layout. We will be adding more media to that player next week sometime.

Another new addition to GDA, the CD Reviews. This will be occasionally updated with some albums that other Green Day fans have reviewed, and will hopefully help expose more people to even more good music. If you are interested in writing up an album review for GDA, click here for more info. Our thanks to those that donated this month.

Green Day has been nominated for 3 NRJ Awards: Best International Group, Best Rock and Best Song (BOBD). Those awards take place January 19th in Finland.

Billie Joe and Mike were at the People's Choice Award show tonight, where they won the award for Favorite Group. Billie explained that Tre was in New York, visiting his daughter, Ramona, for her birthday. So happy birthday Ramona, from all of us here at GDA! And congratulations to the guys for another award so well deserved. You can view the pictures that GDA has so far here.

Hey everyone, thank you all for being patient while we took a holiday break here. The Fan of the Week has been updated, so congrats to Nancy. The FOTW has a new set of questions, so be sure to check them out.

As you all know, I have not updated the lookalike section in several weeks. I am currently working on a new setup for them, and will have those ready within days now. Thanks for your patience with that.

Regarding the Logo Contest. I have recieved tons of emails regarding these questions, so let me answer them for you all.
1. You may submit up to 3 designs
2. You may hand draw them, or make them on the computer
3. They do NOT need to be black and red
4. Anybody can enter. We will ship internationally

Have a Sony PSP? Great. Next step is buying the UMD disk of Bullet in a Bible. Yes, you can watch Bullet in a Bible on your PSP.

There is a new video download that I think many of you will enjoy. "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield" played in 1990 at Pinole High School, CA. This was before Tré joined the band. Click here to download it. Our thanks to Parley for sending us this show in such great quality. More videos from this show will posted in the near future.

A new download has also been posted in the extra media. The song, "Why does it always rain on me", that Billie Joe recorded and left as a voice message a few years back on greenday.com. We've updated the download link for Mechanical Man with an mp3 version for those of you looking for one.

"We'll start with silence and that's how we'll be able to find the inspiration to find another record" (Billie Joe on the new album)

Edit: The forum is back online

Green Day made serveral mentions on KROQ's 2005 top 106.7 with:
1. Boulevard of Broken Dreams
8. Holiday
14. Jesus of Suburbia
25. Wake Me Up When September Ends
41. American Idiot

Mediabase also announced Green Day the most played artist of the year. There are many many more 'best of 2005' awards Green Day won..but i wont bore you now.

A note about the logo contest. After seeing several of the entries, i want to remind you that you are trying to make GDA a logo. Not a banner, or a graphic. We don't want 7 of Green Day's logos in a pretty compilation. We want our own, distinct logo.
Posted Thursday, January 05, 2006 at 9:20am by Andres

Green Day will be on Fuse's show "Influenc'd". The show will air Monday at 2:30PM EST and 9PM EST followed by Green Day's live performance at Irving Plaza from last year. Visit Fuse.tv for more info.

There is a new poll up for you.

We're looking for you people out there who are really talented in drawing or graphic design. What we need is logo for GDA. Make sure to read the rules so we don't get entries that aren't even what we are looking for. Make sure to include you name and email address so if you are to win, we can contact you. The contest will run until Feb. 28, and the winner will win a 4GB iPod Nano. Click here for more.

Billie Joe recorded a song, "Mechanical Man", for the upcoming movie Live Freaky Die Freaky. We have posted this song for you to download in the extra media section. You'll also find the lyrics posted there. You can watch a clip of Billie recording the song here. We'll put that up for download soon.

Reuters has reported that last year Green Day's total of 76 concerts made 36.5 million dollars. That amount landed it in the top 10 highest ranking tours. In the same article Billie Joe says they are done touring for American Idiot and plan to take a break this year from touring to start working on a new album. Billie says the break is to "find the inspiration to find another record", and they'll slowly get back into the studio later this year. He says not to expect anything to soon.

GDA has won "Fansite of the Year" from the liveDaily 'Best Of' Awards. Our thanks to you wonderful fans for voting for us. Green Day also picked up some awards including: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (JOS), Large Venue Tour of the Year, Live Performer of the Year, and GreenDay.com picked up "Artist Site of the Year". Thanks once again to you guys for voting for GDA and Green Day.

Our contact us page has been replaced with a new, easy to use form to send emails to GDA. Please read the notice at the top of that page.

On a personal note, I'm back from vacation and you can expect frequent updates once again.
