On behalf of the entire GDA staff, I'd like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

The Nimrods posted Foxboro Hot Tubs mp3 ringtones as a Christmas present to their visitors. Visit their site for the downloads. (An English translation of their post is here.)

Xfm reports that Matt Mifford of Berkeley, CA said that the name Foxboro Hot Tubs "refers to an apartment complex across the street from Billie Joe's house in Rodeo, CA where kids would sneak in and use the hot tubs. The name of the apartment complex was Foxboro, thus you would say, 'Let's go over to the Foxboro hot tubs tonight'. Only the people in the know, know!!!"

Green Day are in today's Kerrang about their "alleged new side project," the Foxboro Hot Tubs, and also, we are told, next week in a piece about best albums.

Green Day items were included in the 19th Annual Rock N Roll charity auction Rock For Kids. The auction took place on Nov. 30 2007 in Chicago and raised money to support Chicago's homeless and underprivileged children.

As you know, Green Day's song Holiday was played by the Marching Ravens Band in Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. If you haven't seen it, there's a clip of it on youtube.

An old episode of MadTV in which Green Day performed Blood Sex and Booze will be shown on Comedy Central Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. and Dec. 21 at 1 p.m. ET.

And the Simpsons Movie came out on DVD and Blue-Ray Disc on Dec. 18, just in time for Christmas.

In the spirit of the Holidays, Green Day + NRDC and Adeline Street have launched two new initiatives:

Green Day+NRDC's MySpace announced that the NRDC is gathering signatures for a special holiday card for President Bush, urging him to save imperiled polar bears and their habitat. You can add your signature to the card here.

Adeline Street sent us word that they recently donated clothing and accessories to the Mariposa Women & Family Center, in conjunction with the Assistance League of Orange County. The center provides services such as family counseling, child care, and alcohol and drug abuse treatment.

Adeline Street encourages everyone to get involved in their community by donating time, money, food, or toys to establishments like the Mariposa Women & Family Center, or national organizations such as the Assistance League and Toys For Tots.

Thanks to some help from people on the forum, we've created a section with the lyrics to all six Foxboro songs. Click here to read them.

Their official site is temporarily down, but we've uploaded the songs to MegaUpload if you want to download them. Click here

For those who are wondering about where the name Foxboro Hot Tubs might have come from, Foxboro is an upscale area near Rodeo, the East Bay town where Billie Joe and Mike grew up. And "Ruby Room" is the name of a popular Oakland bar.

Here's two more covers of Foxboro Hot Tubs songs you sent in:
Ruby Room by brigadier101
Mother Mary by TomekCro

In other news, the album Instant Karma, which includes Green Day's cover of Working Class Hero, has raised $2.5 million for Amnesty International's Campaign to Save Darfur.

VH1 will begin airing their countdown of the 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s, voted on by fans, on December 17 at 10 p.m. Green Day's Good Riddance is at number 37.

And Green Day topped Lycos' list of most-searched bands of 2007.

Mr. Tre Cool celebrates his 35th year of being alive today. The staff from The Green Day Authority would like to wish him a very happy birthday!

Thanks to 'eLiSa_gd' for the wonderful banner

Here's a video of a guy playing part of "Mother Mary". If any of you record yourselves playing any of the new Foxboro stuff, upload it to MySpace or YouTube and send us a link.

The official site for the Foxboro Hot Tub's has launched, and has the 6 songs from the band available for download. The track list is as follows:

1. Stop Drop and Roll
2. Mother Mary
3. Ruby Room
4. Red Tide
5. Highway 1
6. She's a Saint not a Celebrity

On the top right of the site (where it shows the back of the album) you can see the goat symbol for the "Church of Lushotology", which is the "church" that 'The Network' claims to follow. Maybe the Foxboro Hot Tub's should tour with The Network. Wouldn't that be an event.

Stop by this thread if you'd like to help us figure out the lyrics.

All of the songs are pretty damn good with a very sweet 60's sound. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Take a listen to the Foxboro Hot Tubs. Both the Idiot Club and our forum are filled with posts from people who seem sure the voice sounds familiar. The links came from a post on the Idiot Club forum, but didn't really explain how they surfaced. They certainly sound like a better version of The Network...

The groups official site is under construction, and their MySpace doesn't have any group photos. Lets just enjoy the music and wait for some more stuff to come out while we figure out whats going on.

Green Day has been nominated for another Grammy. This year they were nominated for 'Working Class Hero' (info) in the 'Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group' category. They are up against U2, Daughtry, The White Stripes, and Nickelback.

Last year Green Day was nominated for a Grammy alongside U2 for 'The Saints Are Coming' in th same category, but lost to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. And in February 2006 Green Day won the Grammy for 'Record of the Year' with Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be handed out February 10th in Los Angeles.

Billie Joe's Adeline Street will be having a holiday sale through next Sunday(12/9). Everything in the online store has been marked down 20%.
Check it out.

Don't forget that Adeline Records is also having a sale now on all items in their online store. So now really is a good time to pick up your stuff from both Adeline Street and Adeline Records.

Billie Joe's pictured is featured in Dunlop's new site in the 'Accessories' section. It has a picture of Billie Joe from the American Idiot tour, showing off the mic stand pickholder.

Greenday.com announced that Bullet in a Bible will be shown on TV later this month, on Fuse. The dates and times are: Dec. 20 at 8pm, Dec. 21 at 6pm, Dec. 26 at 6pm and Dec. 27 at 4pm.

Rolling Stone has a list of The Fifty Best Songs Over Seven Minutes Long, picked by editors and readers. It includes Green Day's Jesus of Suburbia. The songs are not ranked from 1st to 50th, they're just in alphabetical order. Rolling Stone's home page has a picture of Billie Joe next to the title of the story.

Blender magazine listed the Top 28 Most Recognizable Guitars. Number 18 is Billie Joe's "Blue." There are videos posted on their site of each guitar being played in various concerts.

For those who didn't get a chance to see My Night at the Grammys, here's another very, very short clip of Billie Joe from that show: download it here. He's commenting on a tribute to Joe Strummer, from 2003, in which Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, and Dave Grohl performed The Clash's London Calling.

Green Day took the number 1 spot in last night's countdown of the top 25 Grammy moments. Billie Joe appeared a couple times, then talked for a bit at the end of the show while they showed the 2005 performance of American Idiot. Well deserved if I may say so myself, and thanks to all of you who spent the time voting for them. We've put the video on YouTube. Thanks to Matt C. for getting the video for us.

We've archived all the news up to November 24th. You can find past entries here.

The Adeline Records store is having an online sale. Everything in their store is 25% off, and the discount will be applied as you check out. Now's probably a good time to check out their awesome Green Day vinyl's and posters. The sale is through December 31st, order early if you want to get items before the holidays.

Billie Joe is expected to join a handful of other artists talking about their memorable Grammy experiences on "My Night At The Grammy's" which is airing Friday night (Nov. 30) at 8pm on CBS. The show is a celebration of the Grammy's 50 years with the top 25 Grammy moments voted on by viewers.

The November 28 issue of Kerrang! comes with a free 2008 calendar featuring bands like Foo Fighters and Muse. We're told Green Day is included in the calendar as well. If you pick up a copy, let us know if Green Day is in there. Update: Green Day is in the calendar. They have a picture for the month of August. Thanks to everyone who let us know.

The mom who took her kid to see Hannah Montana on November 1st and snapped the picture we all know and love, of her boy posing with Billie Joe, wrote a cute post in her blog about the frenzy it caused among us crazy Green Day fans.

And on a more serious issue: Tre Cool is among the artists and scholars who signed a letter to president Bush asking for an end to the long-standing U.S. travel ban that prevents Americans from traveling to Cuba from the U.S. and Cuban artists from visiting the U.S.

We're going to be featuring a new band once a week in a section called "Band of the Week". We're looking for bands to feature, mainly smaller bands that Green Day fans would be interested in. If you're part of a band, or know of one, send us an email to bands@greendayauthority.com with links to their site/myspace and some info about them.

Paste Magazine's December/January issue lists "The Greatest Riffs of the 21st Century (So Far)." Green Day's American Idiot comes in at #6: "With what sounds like a lost Sex Pistols riff, Green Day kicks off its greatest album with its greatest fretboard statement."
The top five rankings: 1) Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, 2) Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand, 3) No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age, 4) Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet, 5) Float On by Modest Mouse.
[Thanks to Tripe]

Fuse aired three programs featuring Green Day to kick off the "Videos That Rocked the World" ten-day special. Two of the shows, "Planet Rock" and "Loaded," were specific to Green Day. And on "No. 1 Countdown-25 Greatest Videos," Green Day's Basket Case video was at #5, chosen by votes from viewers.
[Thanks to Alx]

If you have MHD (MTV's new high-def TV channel), Storytellers with Green Day will be broadcast today at noon, on Thursday at 1:30 am, and on Sunday at 11 pm, eastern time. It's the same show that originally aired in 2005.
