Diablo Magazine's May 2008 issue has a nice article about Adrienne Armstrong's eco-friendly store, Atomic Garden, with interview quotes and photos of Adrienne and her partner, Jamie Kidson.

There are more, earlier photos of the store here and here.

Rolling Stone's new issue has a review of the Foxboro Hot Tubs' The Pedestrian. Thanks to brndnsc1996.
Even before Green Day confirmed that this is their alias, any American idiot could tell that this jaunty shuffle is them in the Fifties-rock mode. If the adenoidal vocals aren't enough of a clue, the self-referential lyrics like "It don't take a genius to be an idiot" should convince any doubters. With a running time just over 2 minutes and a melody straight from the Buddy Holly school, it's nothing too weighty, just the welcome sound of Billie Joe and Co. dusting off cobwebs. 3 1/2 stars. By Micheal Endelman.

There's also a review of Stop Drop and Roll on Aversion and another short review on TriCityHerald.

And Amazon now lists the release date of Stop Drop and Roll, the physical CD, as May 20.

We finally got some photos in from the MuST celebrity golf tournament, hosted by Tre Cool. Proceeds from the event went to benfit Music in Schools Today, music programs in the Oakland schools. The pictures were posted on the forum by Alex Loony, and I'm pretty sure the photos were by photographer S. Chernis (named on the MuST site). Below are a few of my favorites.

We're having some problems with the pic vault, but we've setup this page so you guys can see the 20+ other high-res (green day related) photos from the event. There are over 100 pics from the event in total posted on the MuST site.

We know that a lot of you have posted comments expressing your frustration that the new song, Broadway, is no longer up on the Foxboro Hot Tubs' MySpace page, and neither are several of the other songs. We're fans just like you, so we feel your pain!

As we posted previously, Stop Drop and Roll has now been made available to buy as downloads from the official site, along with clips you can stream. Some people have reported technical difficulties with that, and others have not. As many of you mentioned, Highway 1 doesn't seem to be included in the downloads, and some people have said that when they downloaded Broadway, they actually got Highway 1. Feel free to post your input in the comments to let us know if everything is working smoothly for you.

Another option until recently, for people in the US, was to buy or listen to the songs on Rhapsody, but those are no longer available, except for The Pedestrian.

All we can say is we all have to be a little patient until everything gets sorted out. And don't forget that the physical album is due out on May 13 (Edit: it now says May 20). And of course you can always listen on YouTube...

The Foxboro Hot Tubs have posted up a new song on their MySpace. The new song is called "Broadway", and obviously it kicks ass.

I'm really loving the fact that they continue to put up new stuff. This is easily the most we've ever seen coming from Green Day in years. Makes me tingle all over.

Thanks to the awesome group of people on the forum, we have the lyrics posted up here.
Visit the forum for a link to download or be sure to visit their MySpace to hear it.

Their MySpace now has an ad saying the full album will be available for download tomorrow, April 22nd at Foxborohottubsdownload.com

FHT is the featured band on the MySpace homepage today. Our boys are growing up quickly.

Video Static posted news that a music video is possibly in the works for the song The Pedestrian by the Foxboro Hot Tubs. The director will be Graydon Sheppard; you can see some of his work on his website. This news has not been confirmed, so we're still working on it. Check back for more info as we get it.

Rolling Stone has an article about the Foxboro Hot Tubs. The band says, in an email to RS: “We record live to an eight-track reel-to-reel machine. We write songs as we go, on the fly, fast and spontaneous.” What about a tour? “Maybe, for sure!” I guess we have to wait to find out.

The charity golf tournament for Music In Schools that Tre will be hosting on April 21 now also lists Mike as a participant and sponsor, and a Mike Dirnt autographed bass will also be auctioned off. The event is sold out. Thanks to loves2bang.

And the comments feature should be back up and working by tonight.

Here's a great article talking about Warning, and the authors opinions on why it didn't really do as well as previous Green Day albums. I really liked his closing line in the article "Warning is an underrated album in Green Day's extensive catalog and while some may call a "failed experiment," I call it a "intriguing risk.""

We added the lyrics for the new Foxboro Hot Tubs songs on this page. If you have any corrections to them you'd like to send, use the form at the bottom of that page.

Some of you have written in (or posted comments) complaining that we've covered the Foxboro Hot Tubs too much lately. Comments like "This is GREEN DAY Authority, you should be talking about Green Day" prompted me to have the banner up there to be put up. The thing is, i think that many of you complaining weren't around in 2003 when The Network stuff came out, and we covered that stuff just as much. Just because the name of the band is different, doesn't mean we're not going to cover it. It still has to do with the members of Green Day, and the music is damn good. This is Green Day's side of just having fun with their music, and like-wise the banner we put up is us having fun with our site. Some of you need to sit back and relax a little bit. Green Day is still very much alive, and still very much working together. We know that they're working on a follow up to American Idiot, and i'm sure it'll be amazing. For now, just have fun with the stuff they are putting out.

Oh yeah, I'd like someone to join the team to to help out with editorial content on the site - stuff like poll's and making sure stuff we have is up to date. All thats required is some basic knowledge of HTML and obviously some appreciation and knowledge of Green Day. It's probably also helpful if you enjoy writing. If you'd like the position, send me an email with your name/age and links to examples of any work you've done.

Consequence of Sound published a great review of Stop Drop and Roll. Definitely worth a read.
Thanks to The Lackey.
Stop Drop & Roll is by far and wide a perfect example of a band doing something for the sake of doing it. Not once during the entire listen did it feel as if the band members were taking themselves too seriously, nor did the sound ever grow stale. Foxboro Hot Tubs is precisely the kind of vacation, or extended leave if you will, that needed to happen.

Here's a little tidbit about Mike Dirnt. A fan who ran into him in Hollywood at a punk rock show by the bands Prima Donna and The Billy Bones wrote:
I asked him if he was ever amazed by Green Day's success. He told me "No, because I don't really pay attention to it. If we keep writing good songs and playing as best we can, then things will be alright." Overall, he was a down-to-earth nice guy without a rock star inflated ego just hanging out in a punk rock dive-bar with friends.

And there are some new Green Day shirts in the official store. "Sexy ones," says Andres.

Great news for all of you who have been trying to get the other 6 songs from the Foxboro Hot Tubs online; the band has made the 6 songs available for purchase online.

You can get the entire b-side for $5.49 or each song for .99 cents.
Click here to get them from their site. I just bought them, very very happy :D

An interview with Adrienne Armstrong was published in the latest issue of Knit.1 magazine. There's a photo of Billie Joe and Adrienne and another one of just Adrienne. Here are the scans of the interview: 1, 2. It also says Adrienne will be co-writing a book on eco-friendly knitting. A more extended audio of the same interview was podcast last fall on Vickie Howell's website. Via Vickie Howell.

According to Punk News and Amazon, the Foxboro Hot Tubs album, the physical one that we can hold in our hot little hands, will come out May 13, 2008. I'm enjoying the FHT songs more and more the more I listen. I wrote a little review here.

The news that Green Day admitted to being the Foxboro Hot Tubs made a big splash all over the web, even though no one was actually surprised. Here's a sampling of news reports: Rolling Stone, Ultimate Guitar, Red Pill, Idolator, Undercover.

In an email to MTV, Green Day has finally confirmed that they are the Foxboro Hot Tubs
"We think that the only similarity [between the Hot Tubs and Green Day] is that we are the same band. That is basically the only similarity," the Hot Tubs, er, Green Day, wrote in the e-mail. "We are Jason White, Jason Freese, Michael Pritchard, Frank Edwin Wright the Third and the Reverend Strychnine Twitch. ... We are four guys who love to play music and be spontaneous, [and] after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings.
...
the Hot Tubs want you to know that they plan on touring in support of it, and they're looking to line up a couple of pretty solid openers to fill out the bill.

"All things considered, either the Network or Green Day would make excellent openers for a FBHT tour," they wrote. "Anyone know how to book a tour?"

Here is the full article. We still aren't sure about the tour, but I have my fingers crossed.

Be sure to read today's other news entry below with some info on getting the music and a preview of one of the best songs on the album.

For those of you really anxious to hear or purchase the Foxboro songs, Rhapsody does have them up. You have to install a small player from on their site that'll allow you to listen, but you can listen up to 25 times after that.

To purchase the songs, you'll have to download their software then purchase them from there. The files will be in Real Players format .mrax, so in order to get them to an ipod or other device, you'll have to burn them to CD then rip them as mp3's.

Or you can save yourself the trouble and wait a cople more days for Amazon to get their crap together and post up the mp3's.

Here's a little present to hold you guys over, press the play button on the left to hear track #7, "Sally". Probably my favorite song from the band. I'd love to hear your opinions on it in the comments.

Many of you are probably refreshing Amazon waiting to purchase the album (as i have been since last night) with no luck. According to Amazon's support it could be "2-3 days" before the songs are available.

Dunno what the hell is going on, but it makes one sad panda here.

In other news, Green Day landed at number 8 on AskMen.com's list of the Top 10 comeback albums with American Idiot.

Only two more days for the release of Stop Drop & Roll from The Foxboro Hot Tubs on Amazon.com. We still haven't confirmed how (or where) the album would be released internationally but we expect it will be. There's also some talk on whether not the album will also be released on vinyl. No sure word yet, but that info will come out in due time as well.

A new Song of the Week has been chosen, Welcome To Paradise. Visit the forum to listen to both the Dookie and Kerplunk versions. There's also a video of the band playing the song at Woodstock in 1994, along with a cover of the song by some people with a near perfect sounding bass. I thought it was pretty awesome.

PerezHilton.com posted up a version of Basket Case by British folk/pop artist Pete du Pon. Download the song by clicking here.

Apparently the mailing list from GreenDay.com sent out an email to everyone telling them they could purchase 'The Pedestrian' from Jingle Town Records. The song is 99 cents and the quality is much better.

Now if that isn't a big clue that Green Day is tied in with the FHT, then I don't know what could be. Click here to purchase the song.

Update: The song is now also available on iTunes. Click here to purchase it there.

'Mother Mary' landed at #3 on Sirius Radio's Alt Nation in their top 21 countdown.

There were some rumors going around a few months ago that Green Day might be appearing at the Reading/Leeds Festival this year, but it's not true. We got this confirmed from someone associated with the band, and the festival's official site announced the line-up yesterday. No Green Day. Visit the Picture Vault and check out the photos of Green Day playing the festival in 2004. That should help calm your nerves.

It's being said that Billie Joe's other band, Pinhead Gunpowder will be releasing a new EP in late May. We did hear that he announced this at a couple of the shows the band played earlier this year, and apparently this info was shared with some Idiot Club members.

I know, you guys want Green Day news. We'll take what we can get for now, and be assured that when the next album is announced everyone will be going crazy. I'm sure it'll be worth the excruiatingly long wait.

Amazon.com put up previews of the entire 12-song EP for the Foxboro Hot Tubs. It will be available for download from Amazon on April 8th. Less than two weeks! Current price for the album is $10.49 (though who knows if that'll change). We expect the actual (physical) CD will be released late April, Amazon currently has that listed for April 29th. You can click here to Pre-Order the album.

Head over there now to preview the songs. All the songs sounds pretty good, but i'm really enjoying 27th Ave. Shuffle

Stop by the forum for links to download the first 7 songs which have been made available.

The new issue of Spin magazine has a two-page photo of Pinhead Gunpowder, along with a short blurb and a quote by Jason White. The photo is by Shanty Cheryl. You can look at the scans here and here.

Mike and Tre are in a video encouraging us to support independent mom-and-pop record stores for Record Store Day, which will be celebrated April 19. Thanks to Scotty Did.

The movie Punk's Not Dead, which came out last summer, will be out on DVD April 14. It includes interviews with lots of punk and punk-influenced bands and artists, including Billie Joe. We put up some screencaps of Billie Joe from the movie in the Picture Vault.

And some final tidbits: Green Day+NRDC has raised over $10,000; Spinner has a recap of info about the Foxboro Hot Tubs; some people on the forum who ordered their Foxboro Hot Tubs Mother Mary 7" from HMV have started receiving them; and Adeline Records has put their forum back up.

Mr. Tre Cool will be the host of the second annual MuST Golf Tournament on April 21st. Proceeds from the event will go to MuST (Music in Schools Today) as well as the Oakland Unified School District.

According to the site, Tre will also be playing Auctioneer at a live auction at the event. An Tre Cool autographed drum set will be auctioned off. You can find a link to a TV ad for the event on that same site.

Thanks to pismodiver who posted this info on the forum, and Laura33 for posting the picture.

Also, We've updated the archives. Finally got all the dates organized and easier to sort through, and you'll also find a link from now on at the end of the current news items (scroll down).

The Foxboro Hot Tubs put up a new song on MySpace, called "The Pedestrian". It's really really really good. You can visit their MySpace to listen to the song. Many of you are having problems downloading the song, visit the forum for a link.

They put up a new image with the 12 song listing for the EP. Along with the 6 previous songs they posted online, here are six more:
Sally
Alligator
The Pedestrian
27th Ave. Shuffle
Dark Side of the Night
Pieces of Truth

I'm very excited for this! Lets hope they put up some more soon. They've updated their site with the new image. We've updated the Foxboro Lyrics page with the words for this song. Our thanks to justcause.

This weeks 'song of the week' is 80 off of Kerplunk. Billie wrote the song in the early 90's to his future wife, Adrienne. We've posted up a video of Green Day playing the song live in 1992, as well as a cover of the song by a fan (a pretty good cover too). If for some pathetic reason you don't own Kerplunk and haven't heard the song, we've also put up a streaming version of the song. Check all of this stuff out on the forum. Feel free to leave your comments.

The winner our St. Patricks Green Day banner contest was Louisa, and the runner up was Monica. The winning banner is below. Thanks to everyone who entered, and all of you who voted. And i apologize for being so late with this announcement. Last week was mid-terms, then Easter came up. Blah blah, excuses excuses.

A new poll has been put up. Will you buy the Foxboro Hot Tubs CD?
