Our man the Reverend Strychnine Twitch posted a new message on the Foxboro Hot Tubs' MySpace. He ends by saying:
"Thanks to all the Tub Heads for coming out for our first tour. Will there be more?
I got you on my mind, england... "

Could that mean that the Tubs are thinking about maybe touring in England? We don't know. We'll have to wait to find out...

The Roxy had the people in line to see the Foxboro Hot Tubs sign the poster pictured on the right, and the band signed it in the center. See it here, and click on "All Sizes" to see it huge.

Austin 360 has a photo gallery of pics taken outside Emo's at the Tubs' show, including some shots of some of the band members going in the door.

NME published a review of the FBHT show in Little Rock.

And the TV show This Week in Baseball, on Fox, will feature the song The Pedestrian as background music in its "How 'Bout That" segment on May 31, at 3pm ET.

We received a total of 50 entries for the GDA Video contest. On May 12th we asked people to post a video on YouTube of them playing any Green Day songs (Network/Foxboro stuff included) and then send it in. We had a good turnout and some very good covers. You can view all 50 entries on the forum.

Voting will begin the evening of June 2, 2008, where you'll be able to vote for your favorite in each category. We invite everyone to stop by the forum and view all the entries before voting starts so you have plenty of time to get through all the submissions.

The Foxboro Hot Tubs played their last show of the tour last night in Long Beach, CA. Billie Joe crowd surfed onto the stage... on an actual surfboard! From dkatz, on the forum: "After the rest of the band was onstage, Billie appeared, ON A SURFBOARD, on top of the crowd, and was guided to the stage."

The Roxy posted some photos of Tuesday night's show. They wrote: "Billie Joe has one of the most classic voices in punk rock history and it was such a treat to have him on our stage." They also stopped by our forum to thank the fans.

Mike McDougal has some nice photos of the Foxboro Hot Tubs show in San Diego.

Rolling Stone has a review of Stop Drop and Roll. My favorite line: "Green Day could learn a thing or two from this scruffy little band." And Stop Drop and Roll is #21 on Billboard's top selling albums. Thanks to Lyndz.

And a note for anyone in Amsterdam: Live Freaky Die Freaky will be shown May 31 at the H3R3T!C film festival. (Warning: not for kids!) Via kaganof.

A member on our forum has been collecting Green Day CDs, Vinyls, Bootlegs and some other stuff for 13 years, and now he's trying to sell it to help pay off some student loans. He has over 170 vinyls and tons of CDs he wants to sell to some real Green Day fans before going to eBay. Stop by the forum to see his entire list and to get a hold of him so you can buy some of the very impressive stuff. He has photos of parts of his collection up here.

Foxboro played last night at The Roxy in Los Angeles, you can read some of the reviews on the forum starting here. If you went to the show, go there and post your review. The Roxy website posted this about the show "Now that was epic. Hands down best show of the last 10 years! The Roxy loves Foxboro Hot Tubs". Hell yeah. More photos of the line posted by the Roxy on Flickr.

Tonight is the last show for Foxboro, they're playing Long Beach, CA.

The Rev has put up yet another blog on the Foxboro MySpace, My Dearest Tub Heads, talking about the shows in Phoenix and San Diego. Here's a review of someone who went to the San Diego show.

The Foxboro Hot Tubs played last night in San Diego, where Billie Joe introduced Mike as, "My best friend, Mike Dirnt," with a hug and a kiss. They'll be playing tonight in L.A. at the Roxy. Stay updated or post your news on these two threads on the forum: San Diego, Los Angeles.

The official Foxboro Hot Tubs site has added photos from Austin, starting here and Phoenix, starting here.

There's a review of the Phoenix show from the Phoenix Times. The San Diego newspaper has a review of that city's show, but it's not very positive so read it at your own risk. They also have an article about the people waiting in line.

And look, here's some news not related to the Tubs' tour:

Music Rising is having a benefit sale on May 31 in New York, and the items for sale include a Green Day custom made prototype Gibson used by Billie Joe.

The latest issue of Big Cheese magazine comes with a giant poster of Green Day and has a feature about Green Day and the Foxboro Hot Tubs. (It's not online, you have to pick up a copy to see it.)

And here's a cool photo of a Madrid subway train with Billie Joe's Converse ad on it

Hey everyone! I just got back into the hotel from the Foxboro show. It was the most amazing night ever. Got to meet some awesome people who visit this site, the show was just fucking brilliant, and got to meet Mike, Jason White, and Kevin (the backup guitarist). All of them were really nice and awesome.

I've written up a full review of the show and posted it up on the forum. Click here to read it.

I just wanna give a HUGE thanks to Greg for letting us stay with him in his hotel room. Dude, you are fucking awesome, and I'm really glad I got to meet you. And also to Beth and Cheryl who are the ones that convinced me to go, and helped me out with the gas money. Again, thanks so much. I got to briefly meet some more of you that visit GDA, thank you all for stopping me and saying hi. Best day ever. So far :D

Tonight the Foxboro Hot Tubs will be playing in Phoenix, AZ at The Brick House. Say hi to Andres if you're going! Check this thread on the forum for updates, or to post your reviews.

For those planning to attend the show in L.A. at the Roxy on May 27, they've set up a blog page to answer your questions. The show will be all ages.

There are three short but pretty good quality videos on YouTube of the Foxboro Hot Tubs playing in Little Rock on May 19. By Heathyrmc.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

And the reviews of Stop Drop and Roll have been rolling out. Here's a few: ABC News, London Free Press, Arizona Republic, IGN.

The Reverend has been keeping the messages coming on the Foxboro Hot Tubs' MySpace. This one is from Texas: "Texas hold em? Damn near killed em!"

The media reviews of the Tubs' tour have been ecstatic. This one is from the Dallas Morning News, and the reviewer also wrote this. He says: "I can't overemphasize how fantastic Wednesday's Foxboro Hot Tubs concert was at the Loft."

This is from a review of the Austin show, in Sound Check:
It wasn’t American Idiot, but it was better in so many ways. These guys, who could be sitting on their asses enjoying their massive wealth, were in Austin, TX on a little punk-rock stage – and they were doing it for their fans and for themselves, for the fun of it. These guys are among the greatest live music performers of our time, and, apparently, they want to connect with their fans in a real and intimate way, just as they did 20 years ago.
Rolling Stone reviewed the FBHT show in Austin, here, and The Arizona Republic has an article looking forward to the Phoenix show on May 25.

This is a blog review of the New Orleans show that I thought was cool. And here is a recap of the New Orleans show that I wrote.

The image at the top is of someone holding up the poster for the Austin gig. The original photo is here, by alexandratx.

I'm just getting back in town from the Foxboro Hot Tubs show in New Orleans. I'll write a recap soon, but for now, I have a message for all of you.

I talked to Billie Joe very briefly after the show, and I told him I write for the Green Day Authority, and asked him if he wanted to say hi to all of you. And he said yes, of course, sure. He was gracious and lovely as always.

So... Billie Joe says hi to everyone!!!
If you're reading this, that means you! Billie Joe says hi to you!

He also said thanks, to GDA, for keeping up with everything. I don't remember his exact words because I was slightly freaking out...

He took my hand in both his hands... just like a reverend! I think we can consider all of ourselves collectively, uh, blessed -- or damned to fly the freak flag -- by the Reverend Strychnine Twitch (also known as Billie Joe).

Thanks to all of you. I'm very shy and I would never have talked to him if it wasn't on behalf of all the GDA visitors. Another cool thing is I met Adam in New Orleans, who recently joined the GDA team.

To read more about the New Orleans show, these are the Reverend's own words, on MySpace, and here's a great review from NOLA.com. And another review.

The New Orleans photos on the official FBHT site start here.

It's been a couple days since Stop Drop & Roll was released, and it's fun to see how well the CD is doing for feeling like such an underground secret thing. It's currently #27 in CD sales on Amazon, and a more impressive #4 in Amazon's mp3 downloads. On iTunes it's listed at #9 of the Top 10 Albums, and #2 in the Rock section. It helps that iTunes lists the album on the front page of their store.

My favorite part of the CD is the warning on the front of the vinyl-looking cover saying "WARNING: DO NOT PLAY SIDE B". Here's a large scan of the CD.

The Foxboro's official site has put up nearly 40 photos of the band playing live.

Tonight the Foxboro Hot Tubs play in New Orleans. Anyone attending tonight should stop by this thread after the show and leave a recap. Last nights show in Little Rock sounded pretty much amazing from this review we got, and here's another.

After months of teasing us with release dates, Stop Drop & Roll goes on sale today around the world. You should be able to pick it up at local stores, I'm going out to pick up my copy here in a few minutes. But in case you want to order it online, or buy the MP3's only, here are a few links.

With tonight's Little Rock show just hours away from starting, we've setup a place on the forum for people to talk about each of the shows. You can find updates for tonight's show right here. Photos, reviews and any updates from tonight will be posted there. We heard about an hour ago that there were already over 100 people lined up, and that the band was sound checking at the moment. The pic to the right is a group of people waiting before the show.

If you're attending any other shows, you'll find a specific thread for each right here. Let us know through those pages if you'll be attending.

I'll be attending the show in Phoenix, AZ this Sunday, May 25th. If you're going, be sure to say hi! I promise i'll be nice. I'll post a pic later in the week of the shirt i'll be wearing so you guys will know it's me.

This made me happy when i saw it, so I cropped it out of the original video (credit to hellahyphy69 for it) and put it up. It's the Foxboro Hot Tubs playing "Blood Sex & Booze" May 15.
Visuals aren't great, but if you want the larger video click here. Otherwise, just click the play button to the right.

Here's the full video (over 8 minutes) from hellahyphy69.

For those of you attending tonights show in Little Rock, Arkanas - send in a review to review@greendayauthority.com. We'd like to hear any stories you have.

Also, a big thanks to everyone who donated to GDA. Your help is very much appreciated and continues to keep this place going.

The Reverend, Billie Joe Armstrong, has posted up a blog on the Foxboro myspace, basically telling everyone they had a great time with the first two shows and they're looking forward to the rest. Read it here.

Even better news for you not lucky enough to get to a show, we now have over 70 photos from the Foxboro shows up in the Picture Vault. The photos are from the 15th and credited to the photographers, many from Flickr and some from the forum. We'll continue adding them as we get more in from the upcoming shows.

We also got the pictures up from the Golf Tournament hosted by Tre Cool last month. Click here to view them.

The Foxboro Hot Tubs played their second show last night at Toots Tavern in Crockett , CA. Leanne posted a recap of her experience on the forum, here. And she got a kiss on the lips from Billie Joe! She says:
The guys gave 100% during the show, everyone of them had the biggest smiles on their faces! Billie Joe went crowd surfing and was crawling all over the stage...a very energetic show! He dedicated Blood, Sex and Booze to his brother David and Dark Side of the Night to his sister Hollie.

Another recap of both shows is on the forum, from Mel, here.

And here's another recap of Thursday's show.

There are some videos popping up on YouTube. These two are from Thursday night's encore. You can't see but you can hear, tho the quality is not great. By hellahyphy69.

Exciting night last night as the Foxboro Hot Tubs kicked off their southern US mini-tour in Oakland, CA. We heard the line for the event started forming about 12 hours before the show, with 6 people already in line. By afternoon there were over 100 people standing around, but the good news is that everyone was able to get in. So showing up that early was a bit overkill, but the person we heard from who did show up 10 hours early got to stand right in front of Billie Joe and even ended up getting pushed into him a few times and got to see the entire band as close as you'll probably ever see. Crazy crowd apparently.

The show started at 8pm. Three bands opened up for them, and our guys took the stage about 11pm. Foxboro played all 13 of their songs, and then followed with The Network's Supermodel Robots and then Blood, Sex & Booze. They did an encore where they played a bunch of cover songs (still trying to figure out which ones for sure).

We're hoping to see some photos in over the next couple days. "Billie Joe was dressed like a pimp..long coat, black shirt, loads of chain necklaces, white sunglasses and his hair was blonde and very spikey!" One of the forumers who was in town from Ireland and got to see the show, was also lucky enough to meet Billie, Adrienne and Tre. She posted about the encounter here on the forum and mentioned how generous and genuinely nice all of them were. She also mentioned Tre licked her hair? Can't say I'm surprised.

The photo above is from Flickr from user GoatLegSF.

As fbht mentioned in the comments, the guy with black hair playing guitar, on the left in the photo posted above, is Kevin Preston from the band Prima Donna. Marie_GD on the forum got a message from him:
I met Mike and the guys back in the Skulls days. They called me because they wanted an additional guitar player and I said yes! I did not record for the album. They recorded months ago before I joined. Playing with them is truly amazing. They are the coolest guys on the planet!

Stop Drop and Roll will be out on vinyl on June 24, 2008. You can preorder it from Amazon
by clicking here. The CD, as you know, will be out May 20 and can be preordered as well, here.

The news of the Foxboro Hot Tubs mini-tour made a big splash all over the music news outlets. Here's some examples: Kerrang, NME, Reuters, Pollstar.

MTV writes:
You’ll be treated to some loud garage rock, and who knows what else? Maybe midway through the show, they’ll toss you some American Idiot fan faves - or split off into some other alter-ego band that plays reggaeton. So much is possible.
Spin says:
If you're a Green Day fan, this is likely the closest you'll ever get to the band, or their alter egos, as the outfit play very intimate clubs. And Foxboro Hot Tub's punk-rock-meets-vintage-garage-rock ass-kickers are worth the $20 and sure-to-be lengthy wait.

The first show is tonight in Oakland, CA. Anyone who's attending any of the upcoming shows, please send us your reviews, to review@greendayauthority.com.

The Foxboro Hot Tubs announced two more dates on their mini tour. These two are the 15th and 16th (yes, in a couple days) in Oakland, CA Stork Club and Crockett, CA at Toot's Tavern. Both shows start at 8PM.

Update: The show in San Diego has moved to 'Belly Up' from Soma.

For those of you wondering times for the other shows, you should call the venue you're thinking of attending and ask for times and what time tickets go on sale.

We've setup a page for the Foxboro Hot Tubs that lists the tour dates (we also have the list on the right side of the site) as well as a bio. The page is still under construction, but it's a good place to catch up with the dates and other Foxboro news.

For years now we've been waiting for the John Roecker documentary, Heart Like a Hand Grenade, which is the making of American Idiot. John was with the band as they recorded the album, and in 2005 (i believe) they released a short bit of the behind-the-scenes for a TV special on...some channel (it's been a long time. someone can refresh my memory). You can find that 30 minute special on YouTube.

But, good news! John says that the entire documentary is now complete and shared a couple screenshots from it (while working on it). On a bulletin posted on his MySpace he says to "pray to the gods and satan that it can be unleashed". Still no exact date on when it will be out but these screenshots make me excited and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

We have updated the Current Projects page with some info about the Foxboro Hot Tubs. I'd also like to take the chance to welcome a few new people onto the team: Julie, Adam and Joey; Julie will be working with us on sections like current projects along with Adam (who has already updated the GDA Poll). Both will work to keep various parts of the site updated. Joey will be taking over band of the week to revive our section and feature some bands.

With school winding down for the summer, and more people coming on to the team, we're going to be getting some of the regular sections we used to have running again. These will be starting up throughout the month and we plan on keeping these active. If you guys have any ideas on projects we could do (or contest ideas) to keep this place interesting, leave something in the comments.

Artist Jacob Thomas created an illustration for Rolling Stone that was meant to go with a review of the Foxboro Hot Tubs, but the article was never published. It's a cool drawing of Green Day with a psychedelic 60s look. You can see the finished piece and preliminary sketches here.

And here's another cool bit of artistry. It's a video for a clip of Mother Mary set to moving type. The words move and change with the music. By franciscoak.

In other news, the filmmakers of One Nine Nine Four, a documentary about the explosion of punk rock in the 90s that will include a new interview with Billie Joe, sent out an update. They said they're done shooting and hope to release the film in late 2008 or early 2009. There's also a new teaser out that's just a short, funny clip of Fat Mike from NOFX.

And Punk News has a review of Stop Drop and Roll.

Our favorite bassist turns 36 today! We'd like to wish Mike Dirnt a very happy birthday!

Kerrang put out a short article in their newest issue about the Foxboro Hot Tubs. Just another nice summary, this one with a more decent comparison of the music and the band just having fun. Thanks to die_in_tradegy for the scan.

I just heard this great interview with Green Day on the Howard Stern show back in 1997, shortly after nimrod was released. They talk for about 15 minutes about tattoo's and breaking bones, then they play a couple songs. I was pretty excited to hear it, so you guys should check it out. Click here to download it. Thanks to monkeyman for posting it up on the forum.

We have scans of that NME article mentioned yesterday, thanks to greenbear who posted them on the forum. Nothing new in the article, though it's a decent summary of Foxboro Hot Tubs and bit of speculation with whats next for Green Day. Click the thumbnails below to read the page.

Billie Joe is on the cover of the weeks NME Magazine with the headline "New Tracks, Secret Live Appearances, GREEN DAY, Billie Joe Plots the Comeback". Their site says "Greenday’s Billie Joe talks Foxboro Hot Tubs, secret live performances and if they can really top American Idiot with their much-anticipated comeback."

We believe the new edition comes out tomorrow, we'll share the scans if someone posts something on the forum.

...wow it feels good to have a post like that. Oh yeah, the post below about the FHT May 20th date was right on. The music will be expected on iTunes then as well too. Here's what the band said about that, "The Official release date is now May 20th!!! For sure no more monkey business! We pushed it back one week so it could be an "International" release date. Yes ... itunes, Amazon, cd and vinyl! "
Posted Monday, April 28, 2008 at 10:27pm by Andres
That May 20th release date for Stop Drop & Roll is looking more and more like the real deal (finally!). As mentioned in the post below, Amazon.com did update that date and it's now also listed on Amazon UK for the people overseas. The album is also listed on Interpunk with the same date. Nothing on iTunes yet.

If you guys are going to purchase the CD, you can purchase it using this link to Amazon, which will give GDA back a small percentage of your purchase. So then you get the CD and help us out a little bit too.

The documentary Punks Not Dead, which includes some interview clips with Billie Joe, will be released May 1st and is available for pre-order right now. According to Punk News, producers for the documentary will be giving away a Squier Mike Dirnt Precision Bass signed by Mike, along with some signed stuff from Rancid and Bad Religion to selected pre-orders.
