New Found Glory will be playing an entire set of Green Day covers at the Hoodwinked Festival this May in East Rutherford, NJ. The band was asked to co-headline the event with a Sublime cover band 'Badfish'.

I'll reserve judgment till after we hear it. I actually like a lot of older NFG, just haven't really kept up with them much. It might turn out pretty good.I was lucky enough to be invited to a Green Day ceremony a couple years ago in San Francisco and watched MCR play tribute to the band with a few songs. While MCR really disappointed me when i saw them tour with Green Day, they definitely made up for it that night - I was impressed. And of course Weezer's cover of 'Worry Rock' was pretty exciting. Lets see how this turns out.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in the United States. I've come to visit my parents for the holiday, so there's my excuse for not replying to emails.

For the rest of the world, have a fantastic Thursday.

AP just released this interview with Billie Joe, which is separate from the article mentioned below. They focus a lot about working on the next album, talking about their inspiration and working with Butch Vig.

There are some pretty quote-worthy parts of the article, such as Billie explaining the problem all of them have with patience, "It's just patience, you know? For a bunch of guys that are ADHD, it's hard to have patience. "

He mentions that a lot of the new music isn't leaning toward different technology to make it, but rather looking at stuff from the past and making it better by pushing it in a new direction.
I love the sound of a great amplifier with a great old microphone that's plugged into a great preamp and hardly needs any EQ. It's just more soulful to me.
...
You know, it's like, how do you take something--and it could be anything from the Creation and the Who to the Beatles to Cheap Trick to the Jam--and try to expand on the idea of what is supposed to be three-chord mayhem? And how do you do it in a way where the arrangements are just unpredictable? So I'm pushing myself to be progressive in songwriting and being a songwriter. I come from a culture where I'm into great albums, and I still believe in that.

AP Magazine has shipped out some of the magazines already, so we got a nice summary of the article with some exciting information about the next album. We won't post the scans up till the magazine is out on December 9th, so until then here's a summary - and be sure to visit the AP site to get your pre-order. It's definitely worth it (and only $5).

AP visited Green Day in the studio and had the chance to hear some of the new tracks. They mention that there are three Act’s in this album (Act 1- “ Heroes and Cons”; Act 2 – “Charlatans and Saints” - Act 3 "Horseshoes and Handgrenades"). Some of it is political, but most of it very much personal. They talk about 7 songs they heard (of 16 the band has). The song "March of the Dogs" is a "religious rant", while the song "21st Century Breakdown" is a bit more personal, but still talking about how the American dream seems to fade away. A “piano-driven love ballad” called “Last Night On Earth” where Billie talks about it being a romantic moment with more between the lines.

They mention the new album seems to be in line for a spring release.

The article clarified that the last report we heard in 2006, about Billie Joe writing 45 songs on the piano, was not true. While there is some piano on the songs, Billie Joe said that just didn’t happen.

They mention a lot of older rock music seeming to stem from the inspiration for this album. The author writes about some of the songs motivation of The Beatles, The Clash and John Lennon.

The entire article has some really great descriptions of the work the guys have been doing and their feelings about it. I can't wait to find the magazine in stores, I'll definitely be going out to buy it (there's a few new pictures as well). You can pre-order the magazine on their website, right here.

Adeline Street, which was the clothing line and merchandise portion of Billie Joe's label (Adeline Records) has decided to shut down. They posted this message on their MySpace which read in part "Adeline Street has decided not to move forward with future designs while Billie Joe and the guys are working hard on their follow up to 'American Idiot'". They also noted that the record label was going no where as the two parts are separate entities, and that Adeline Records would continue with their music.

They are selling out all of their merchandise which can be bought at the Adeline Records store, AngryYoungandPoor.com, and OnePoster.com. Also Steady Clothing (who worked with Adeline Street) will be having it's annual Holiday sale where they open up their warehouse in Santa Ana, California and they'll have the last of the Adeline Street merchandise including discontinued merch and items from their sample line. So if you're in that area and want some of this stuff find the info on this flier.

Following up the news from a couple days ago, AP Magazine has revealed the cover for the 'Most Anticipated Album in 2009'. The issue will be released December 9th (just a few weeks away). You can pre-order the magazine on altpress.com. (Click the cover for a larger pic)

GreenDay.com was updated with the news of the AP release calling it the "first major interview since ending their tour for 2004's multi-platinum album American Idiot, the band open up about their new, Butch Vig-produced disc, the influences behind the tracks and their expectations for both themselves and for the world's response. "There's nothing to prove anymore," singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong tells AP. "We're just trying to show we have this spirit that rock 'n' roll can change lives, and it really is a religious experience that means something to us. It's more about faith now."

I enjoyed this; Chris Martin of Coldplay said the only reason his band is the best in the world right now is because the good bands, "U2 and Green Day" don't have an album out yet. "The reason we're the biggest band in the world at the moment is because the others are on holiday. That's how you get your breaks. That's how the understudy gets his opportunity. While U2 and Green Day are away, we've gotten to make the most of it."

We're going to be re-launching a section that we never really gave much attention to, the Editorial section. We'll be having some people write some articles related to Green Day that will take a closer look at some aspects of the band. We got our first article in written by Angeline (username justcause). She talks about the bands influence on individuals over their career, a lot about the role the Foxboro stuff had on fans and also about the future of the band. I'm working on putting that up in the next couple days, so look out for it because it's really damned good.

Also, I figure since I can't be the only geek who visits GDA (I see so those 900 visitors who visit from a Linux machine and 2500 of you using Google Chrome) I figured I'd plug my twitter account. If you're on twitter, follow me up and I'll do the same.

J'net has been working to update and re-do the Other Crew section, where we have short summaries of the other people who work with Green Day (producers/tour musicians). Check it out and we'd like to hear what you guys think. Leave some comments with your opinion about it if you like it or if you'd like to see something more there.

Annie wrote in to let us know that Green Day will be on the January 2009 cover of Alternative Press. On their site right now they ask "Who's gonna be the most anticipated album of 2009" and while the cover only shows their silhouettes, I think it's kinda obvious that it's the guys from Green Day. I'm really looking forward to this article, because it looks like AP was able to sit down with the band and hopefully we'll see a proper interview about the new material. Here's what one of the editors wrote:
I can't speak for the other editors, but I am f*cking pumped as sh*t for Green Day. They're one of my all-time favorite bands and I am totally honored we were able to secure them for this issue. They're not talking to anyone else; only us. It's very, very flattering and exciting. (And the story itself, written by former AP editorial director Aaron Burgess, is an awesome read.)

Rolling Stone has listed the 100 Greatest Singers, Bono landed at #32 and Billie Joe wrote about him. Here's part of his writing:
I never had the feeling he was manipulating the power of his voice to show off. They say a submarine never goes in reverse. That's Bono, always looking for a new way of singing something. That's one thing I learned from him: Never rest. Keep learning and be a good listener. That's the spirit of singing — and he definitely has it.

You can read Billie Joe' entire entry on Rolling Stone.com

I'd like to thank Michela for our new banner up on top of GDA.

Cary wrote in and pointed to this eco-friendly listing on WalMart.com for International Superhits for $9. I went to the store and sure enough found it in the music section. Basically just the CD in a cardboard wrapping, opposed to the plastic case. For some stupid reason I almost bought it, even though I already own IS. So for those of you who do want the physical CD or haven't gotten it yet, know that it's out there. A couple photos from the store.

Marlon wrote in to let us know that Belgian's largest music TV channel, TMF, aired it's Essential Rock Top 100, and Green Day made the list 5 times, The highest being 7th place with Basket Case. You can see the entire list here.

The official Green Day store from Cinderblock and GreenDay.com has been updated with a couple new shirt designs. The cinderblock page also got a redesign looking more like the new official site.

The shirts are $20 (+ shipping), one of them has a green glow with the silhouette. The other is probably one of my favorite shirts yet, showing a worn out concert poster from an old show. I'm thinking it's time for new a shirt anyways. Thanks to Jarred for the heads up.

Actually it looks like there's plenty more new shirts I didn't notice before

Fender put up a video as part of their "Make History" promotional site that includes dozens of musicians talking about Fender. Mainly just kissing Fender's ass, but when you make some of the worlds best guitars I guess it's alright (see, I kinda did it there myself). There's not much Mike in it, but the whole piece is pretty interesting with short clips from everyone like Merle Haggard to Pete Wentz giving their opinion. For you Fender or guitar enthusiasts, watch it here.

That also shows me how much Fenders site icon is similiar to GDA's. Hmmm...controversial.

I'm getting tired of all our old banners. If you'd like to help out and send something in, read this thread and post something on the forum.

Edit: The Picture Vault wasn't working earlier today, it should be up now.

Tonight are the MTV EMA's (Europe Music Awards) in London, where Green Day are nominated for 'Best Act Ever'.

You can watch MTV's spotlight on Green Day for the EMA's here. A short video about the band. Nothing new, but still fun just to see them anywhere in the media. Thanks to Carolin for the link

The event starts at 8pm in Liverpool, and will be airing here in the US at midnight on MTV2.

Update 5:15pm: Green Day lost the award to Rick Astley.

Sorry this place has been so quiet over the past few days. Being the political junkie I am, I was sucked into politics through yesterday and pretty much all my attention went there. As you can imagine, I'm so excited that Obama won and look forward to calling him the next President. With the election over and me feeling a nice jump in my own motivation, I hope to spend a lot more time here again.

But lets move on to things you guys care about and visit GDA for. Converse has released a PRODUCT (RED) shoe for Billie Joe. Product (Red) is a global charity fund to help raise money and awareness for the fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. You'll all remember that campaign Billie Joe was sort of a part of earlier this year with converse, I'm glad to see some good coming from that through this release. The shoe is white black and red, sort of American Idiot themed, obviously has the good simplistic looks of Converse. It comes at a pricey $70, but because it's meant to support a good cause, I think that's a reasonable price. You can find all the details for the shoe on Converse.com.

Here's an article with Simple Plan where they briefly mention touring with Green Day a few years back during the American Idiot tour.
"Obviously we were very big fans of Green Day growing up and just to tour with them was cool, but to play those size venues was amazing," Lefebvre says of the tour which brought them to the attention of hundreds of thousands of new faces every night back in 2005.

In a YouTube interview with Tom Delonge he mentions that his shoe company, Macbeth, is working with Mike Dirnt to release a pair of shoes designed by him, along with some from bands like Muse, MCR, and some others. He also mentioned it takes about a year to make them - so we'll have to wait and see when these first come up. If we get anymore info we'll be sure to pass it along. You can watch the interview here (he mentions this about 3 minutes in). Thanks to Andrew for spotting this and sending the video to us.

Toward the end of the video (8:00) he talks about the Green Day/Blink riff, asking if it's true Green Day talked crap about them when they toured together. Tom's reply was "It wasn't a Green Day thing, it was a Tre thing cause he's out of his mind and mildly retarded and says things he doesn't really think about". Yup, that's our Tre. He then went on to say that they were really friends, he'd talked to Billie Joe just a couple days ago and has been working with Mike on that design for Macbeth.

Some of you have noticed an icon on the top right of the news page on the new GreenDay.com. It's a stack of newspapers with the headline "3 new albums for Green Day". So we started getting in emails and comments almost immediately asking us whether this was true, so I thought it was important to address it right away.

The headline is not new, it's from this NME article from back in 2006. The article doesn't say the band is releasing 3 new albums, it said they had been working on enough songs for 3 albums. Every time the band records, they write a shitload of songs, see what they like and what they want to keep and continue working from there. This was in 2006, so it's very fair to say Green Day has since then come up with many more songs after deciding what direction to take the new album in. We don't know how long the album will be. As for that icon, it's only for pretty and people are looking WAY too much into it. The band isn't dropping subtle hints with it (trust us, we asked).

For some real fun about that icon, check this out.

The official Green Day site, greenday.com has been given an update. The new site is using dark grey/black colors, though our understanding is that this is not correlated with the new album. Instead, an updated layout will be used next year when the album is closer to being released, once they know what design it will take.

They've also announced a new design for the Idiot Club, with both new sites working to be as "user-friendly as possible - in addition to making the new Idiot Club even better than before."

The site isn't working for some people yet, so visit the forum where we've put up screen shots for everyone to see.

What are your thoughts?

Congratulations to Mike Dirnt and Brittney who welcomed their son, Brixton Michael, this last Saturday October 11. This image comes from GreenDay.net.

As we mentioned a few days ago, our newest team member, J'net, has been working on a section dedicated to all the details about the new album. You can now read this page here. It has related links to all the sources for the info as well as links to the recent videos. I really recommend reading it to catch up on any details we have about Green Day's next album. This is just a taste of the work J'net will be doing for us, so we're excited to have her on board. This page will be updated with new information as we get it.

We have a new video! This one shows Mike playing the bass and a bit of Tre drumming, also a quick bit of Jason Freese.

Thanks to Mari and Jake for submitting the video to us as soon as it came out.
I'm really excited to welcome J'net (janewt from the forums) onto the GDA team. She'll be working with us to keep things around GDA up to date, and her first project is an article recap of all the news we have for the upcoming album. For those of you who haven't kept up with all the news or lost some details along the way, this will be a great place for you to catch up. The section is just about ready to go up and we'll post it here in the news when it's ready.

Back in August, Green Day + NRDC asked for their supporters to take pictures of themselves doing something to help the environment to enter their contest. On the 7th a winner was chosen. Diana from Chile won a bunch of nice Green Day and Adeline merch, along with an autographed photo from the band.

Speaking of Adeline, we gots lots of email from you guys asking what's going on with the Adeline Street website (it's been down for the better part of a month). We sent an email to them and they replied to let us know that they're working on it, and they'll send us an update ASAP.

Throughout September we got tips saying that Butch Vig was helping produce Green Day's next album. Vig is the drummer for 'Garbage', but also a well-known producer who worked with Nirvana, and more recently with Against Me!, Jimmy Eat World, AFI, and The Subways (and many many more). While we had heard the rumors when they first surfaced, we weren't able to confirm them. In a recent interview with Carson Daly, Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson said that Butch would be producing Green Day's album.

According to AbsolutePunk.net, Joe McGrath (who produced Maria and Poprocks & Coke for International Superhits) is said to be assisting with the producing.

Most of you probably know Rob Cavallo as Green Day's producer, having worked with them on nearly all their albums since Dookie. It's unclear what role Rob will have with the next album, but I'm sure Green Day knows what kind of sound their trying to accomplish by working with different people.

Warner Music in the UK is asking for people to sign up here to get updates about Green Day's new album when they become available. They confirm on that page that the new album will be out sometime in 2009!

While we don't have any more info right now, we'll be working to get it all sorted out as quickly as possible and pass along what we find out.

Please read the post below, which was only posted a couple hours ago, about Pansy Divison covering Green Day, and the 8th anniversary of Warning.
Posted Friday, October 03, 2008 at 1:33pm by Andres
Pansy Division, who toured with Green Day during their first major tour after releasing Dookie, will be covering 'Coming Clean' as a b-side for their upcoming album "Thats So Gay". In a post on their site, they mention their new album will be out in March, but a 7" will be released before then with the song "Average Men" and "Coming Clean" as a b-side to the vinyl, but the song won't be on the album.

You can find Pansy Divisions entire back catalog on iTunes, and here's a song by them with Tre Cool.

Today is also the 8th anniversary of the release of 'Warning'. To this day this remains my favorite Green Day album and it's strange knowing it's been so long since it's release. As is now tradition, take some time out and listen to the album in it's entirety today. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Also, leave a comment with your thoughts on the album.

Green Day has been nominated for "Best Act Ever" for the MTV EMA's (UK). You can go vote for them now, right here. They're up against Britney Spears, U2, Christina Aguilera, Tokio Hotel and Rick Astley. Pretty terrible group, so Green Day needs to win.

The awards will be held in Liverpool on November 6th. They'll air on MTV UK, I'm not aware of anywhere they'll be showing in the US.

Many of you are not wondering if Green Day would be at the awards show, and though we haven't heard anything from the band themselves about this, I would assume they won't be. They usually don't start attending shows till after the new album is out, and it's not likely that we'll see the album out before the end of the year.

But, now that we've got the band nominated lets give them as many votes as possible to win.

Happy October, everyone. Over the past month we had been asking you guys to vote for Green Day as "Best Act Ever" for the MTV EMA's (UK). A couple days ago some of you started noticing that the nominees were being announced, and the category Green Day was mentioned in was no longer visible. So I sent out an email to MTV asking if they could let me know whats going on, and they let me know that the nominees for some of the other categories (including 'Best Act Ever') were still being tallied and have not yet been announced. So don't worry your shiny pretty little heads, there's still some hope that we might have got them nominated, but we'll just have to wait and see. Of course we'll post it here if we do hear anything.

Update: GDA visitor Karolina points out in the comments that this article on the German MTV.de has a list announcing Green Day as a nominee along with 4 other artists in "Best Act Ever". We're waiting for this information to be posted on the official voting site so that we can confirm it, and so we can all go vote.

Welcome back everyone. Sorry the downtime, I'm sure it was tramatic for some of you as it was for me. We've been having some problems with our server since late August and we took the last couple days to do some (unexpected) maintenance. If the site does go down again, my suggestion is to stop by the forum, or add us on MySpace. We'll post updates there if anything goes wrong here.

There's a short, but pretty good review of the Pinhead Gunpowder EP from the blog 'Sink or Swim'.

Since the site was down for a couple days, we're going to extend the voting for the audio contest for an extra two days. The last day of voting will now be on October 2, 2008, and the winners will be posted October 3rd.

Our very observant friend on the forum, justcause, found a tiny mention of Green Day in a recent article about the Plain White T's (who released their new album yesterday). The article mentions that the T's were working together on their album in a rented home out in Malibu. And here's the quote:
One day after a run on the beach, Higgenson came home just as Billie Joe Armstrong and the other members of Green Day arrived unannounced to say hello and check out the house for a recording project of their own.

Hard to say with any certainty, but Wikipedia says the T's were expected to record April - July 2008, which would suggest that maybe Green Day was looking at the place to start their recording a little later in the summer.

Green Day is also mentioned by The Queers lead singer, Joe King, about the current state of the punk rock scene. The Queers were signed with Lookout! Records during the same time as Green Day back in the early 90's. Though Green Day signed on with Reprise in 1994, they remained with Lookout! to distribute their first two albums. Unfortunately both Green Day and The Queers left Lookout! entirely in 2005/2006 after a breach of contract with the label for unpaid royalties. The Queers continue to this day, currently on Asian Man Records.

The top 10 finalists in our Audio Contest have been posted up for you guys to listen to and vote on. After listening to all the entries, pick your favorite and vote. Voting ends Sept. 30th and the winner will be announced October 1, 2008.

We asked our visitors to record themselves playing a song by The Network or the Foxboro Hot Tubs. There are some really impressive entries in there, and I'm happy with the turnout we got. It was definitely tough narrowing it down to 10 entries, so take a moment to listen to them.

- Visit the contest page.

There seems to be a problem with the page loading in Internet Explorer.

American Idiot was released to the world 4 years ago today. Since then the album has gone on to sell over 15 million copies worldwide and marked a huge turning point in Green Day's career. Because of this album a whole new generation was exposed to Green Day's music (and GDA :D).

This also marks the longest break between Green Day albums since the band started releasing them 17 years ago. The wait between Warning and American Idiot was 3 years 11 months, and now 4 years later we're waiting around excitedly to hear what's next.

So if you became a fan before American Idiot or after, I say you all join me in listening to the album in it's entirety at some point today.

There have been some pesky rumors floating around about the band playing some shows, and recently a French newspaper said the band would be returning there next summer. We have confirmed that these are not true. The band does not have any scheduled dates. Their management did say they would let us know as soon as they did have something to confirm. I'm sure we'll hear about progress on the new album before we find out about any tours. Sit tight.

The official store has been updated to include some 'packs', Green Day items grouped and sold together. They have 5 packs right now (eagle, sticker & cd,poster, sticker & button, 1039 Smooth), with prices ranging from $6 to $25. Check them out.

I've decided to postpone the results of the top 10 finalists in our audio contest till Monday, September 22nd. I know some of you are anxious, and I'm sorry - but I'm having a hard time getting it down to the top 10 so I'm waiting for some more input. This is a good problem. We got more than 10 pretty good entries. It's gonna suck having to get rid of some.

Today is the last day to enter our audio contest. We asked a couple weeks ago for people to record themselves playing any song by The Network or Foxboro Hot Tubs. We've had a good response so far, but if you'd like to be entered your entry has to be in by midnight tonight (eastern).

We'll choose the top 10 entries and put them up on Thursday, where all of our visitors will then vote for their favorite. The winner will receive a copy of the new Pinhead Gunpowder vinyl. Details can be found on the contests page.

We've got the new avatars section up. A few months ago we asked for visitors to send in some designs for Green Day avatars, and we've got up around 40 of them to start off with. Check it out. Thanks to everyone who shared their work with us.

Now we'd like to fill up the other avatar sections, and we're asking for those who have some skills in Photoshop to design some Billie Joe avatars. All the details cane be found here (We'll ask for Mike & Tre avatars a bit later).

I'm also writing a new band biography - and I must say, it's pretty good so far. Gonna take my time with it to make sure it's correct and detailed enough to give a better perspective on how the band came to be. Look forward to that in a couple weeks.

American Idiot' will be included on Kerrang's The Album '08. The 42 track compilation will be released September 29th, and includes songs from MCR, Nickleback, Weezer, Linkin Park, and many many others. Read the article to see the full track listing.

Pinhead Gunpowder's EP is now available on iTunes, click here to buy ($3.96). There's also a review of the album up on PunkNews.org

Just to update you guys, there's a week left to enter our audio contest. Record yourself or your band playing a song by The Network or the Foxboro Hot Tubs and then read the details on the contest page on how to enter. Right now we have 19 entries. We'll choose the top 10 then let visitors vote for the winner, who will receive one of the new Pinhead Gunpowder vinyls.

And to scrape the bottom of the barrel of possible Green Day news; we've gotten in a few emails letting us know that Green Day is mentioned in a Verizon ad. Nothing special, a guy is just listing some music he has on his phone and mentions American Idiot and When I Come Around.

Anyone watch the VMA's last night? I only caught a couple minutes (I put on 40-year-old Virgin instead) but I'm kinda glad I didn't have to see Green Day on stage with Paris Hilton (again) and a seemingly sober Britney Spears. Oh yeah, be sure to vote again for Green Day for the EMA's. We were told the nominees would be announced September 29th. Scroll down to the news post from August 28th with directions to vote for them.

MuchMusic.com put up an entry about the musicians that "don't have to go around proclaiming their sexuality in the hopes of selling a few more records. These artists are about the music, not the hype!" They mention Billie Joe and the songs King for a Day and Coming Clean, which they write "has been described by Armstrong as being about coming to terms with his own sexuality".

They also mention Kathleen Hanna, lead singer of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre, probably best known by most of you as the female vocals on the intro of 'Letterbomb'. And lastly, they also make mention of Bob Mould, former frontman of Hüsker Dü, which the more knowledgable of you will know of as one of Billie Joe's favorite bands.

It's an interesting read, if nothing else you get to know a bit about some artists you might not have known otherwise. LGBT issues are ones that I care about quite a bit, so thought I'd pass it along. As for the photo, just thought pointing out the irony of "not proclaiming their sexuality" as Billie Joe goes to town on stage was just too good an opportunity.

Guitar World put up a video review on YouTube of the Gibson Billie Joe Les Paul Jr. Signature Guitar (always a mouthful). It's been up since February, but I only noticed it a few days ago. I wish I could get my hands on one to play around with. From this review, it looks and sounds pretty damn good. Anyone been able to play around with one?

View more pictures at Musicians Friend where the guitar is available for purchase.

For those of you with MHD (Music HD channel from MTV), they will be playing Bullet in a Bible at 9pm (eastern, I believe) tomorrow, September 3rd. It'd be pretty bad-ass to watch it in HD. I was one of the lucky ones who got to watch it when it premiered that one-night in theaters. Green Day playing on a big ass screen with amazing sound. Easily the most awesome thing I've seen in theaters. So if any of you can catch the HD viewing, do so.

Sorry everyone for the downtime we've had this weekend. Had some unexpected problems with the servers, but thanks to the good people at Ubiquity Hosting, we're back.

Updates will be back to normal by tomorrow.

Update 08/25/2008 11:12AM: We were doing a little bit of maintenance to address some issues with the server overnight. Should be all back again.

You can now purchase the new Pinhead Gunpowder songs from the Amazon.com MP3 store, click here to purchase.

The EP is only $3.95 and comes with a fourth song, which is an alternate version of 'One The Ave.'.

1. West Side Highway 2:09
2. Anniversary Song 2:00
3. On The Ave 2:46
4. On the Ave V2 2:52

Right now only the Amazon US store has the material up. But as soon as the other stores have them available we'll be sure to upload links. iTunes and Rhapsody will also be carrying the songs, but we don't know exactly when those stores will put them up.

I'm really impressed with the new songs. If you've heard earlier Pinhead stuff, you definitely won't be disappointed. If you haven't heard much Pinhead stuff before, now would be a damned good time to start. It really reminds me of early Green Day stuff.

Sorry fo the slow updates, it's been a pretty crazy busy week for me with work and getting ready for another semester of school.

Good news is that we got word yesterday that the Pinhead Gunpowder album will be up on iTunes, Amazon, and Rhapsody within the next two weeks. No exact release date has been set, but we were told the songs have all been sent to these providers and will up as quickly as they can process them. As soon as we get links we'll pass them along. I got a chance to hear the songs and I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed with them. For those of you that haven't heard a lot of Pinhead stuff, this sounds a lot like early Green Day stuff and that should make you excited.

Green Day + NRDC is having a contest and giving away some pretty nice Green Day merch in return. Send them a photo of yourself "taking action to help the environment" and the winner will recieve an autographed Green Day photo and some Adeline merch, runners-up will recieve various other Green Day/Adeline merch: t-shirts, posters, Bullet in a Bible, "Waiting" vinyl. Lots of pretty cool crap. Visit their MySpace Blog for all the details.

A Mexican rock magazine named 'Grita' has the Foxboro Hot Tubs on the cover in an article titled "The other face of Green Day". I decided to post this up because of the unique illustration of the band, thought it was kinda cool. Click the cover to the left for the full size. If you understand Spanish, you can get a little more info here, but as far as I could tell, nothing there we haven't seen before. [thanks to Berry for the info]

Yahoo! Music places 'Good Riddance' at #7 in the "Top 10 Most Downloaded Golden Oldies". Let's avoid the fact that they consider the 90's part of the "golden oldies", and that they mistakenly posted that Good Riddance was never released as a single (it definitely was, hitting the #2 spot on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks in 1998). But it's nice to know that this song is still so popular 11 years after it's release.

Many of you have been wondering why the Pinhead Gunpowder album still isn't available to buy on CD or mp3. We though that the cd/mp3 would be available at the same time as the vinyl, and Interpunk had the release date for the vinyl on August 12th, they've since pushed that date back to August 19th for the vinyl, which is already available from Recess Records. So, bottom line is we don't know. We'll update as soon as we hear back with a date.

Recess Records has made the Pinhead Gunpowder vinyl available for purchase online. They have both blue and green vinyls, photo of them to the right. Click here to visit the order page.

Track Listing:

2. Anniversary Song
3. On The Ave

As we've mentioned before, when we don't make enough money from advertisements to cover the costs of the site, we ask for your help so that I don't have to end up paying the bills alone. We do offer all our content for free (pictures/downloads,etc.) and those costs can add up. If you can help us out by sending in an online donation through PayPal (with your PayPal account, or just any credit/debit card) please click here.

If you can't pay online, we have details here on how to send in a donation through the mail.

Thanks to everyone willing to help us out with these costs. Your help is very much appreciated by me, and everyone else who visits this place. We wouldn't have been around this long if it wasn't for your help.
Green Day's longtime producer, Rob Cavallo, is working with American Idol winner David Cook. This article [EW.com] quotes Cook as saying "I think he's a great producer with the kind of sound that I want... And in talking to him, he's just a good guy. Like the song selection I had on the show, Rob just fit." Earlier this year we mentioned he was also in the studio working with the Dave Matthews Band, and as I'm sure many of you remember, Rob also worked with MCR on their latest album.

Our friends over at Green Day Online are having a contest to giveaway some free Foxboro Hot Tubs merchandise. They're asking for participants to design some FHT wallpapers, and 3 winners will be chosen to win a Foxboro t-shirt. Visit GDO for more info.

The Pinhead Gunpowder album, which we've been talking about for a while, will be out August 12. Well, that's at least according to Interpunk.com which has the 7" vinyl listed on sale for that day. We got word that the EP will be available on CD (or download) so everyone can enjoy it without bugging your grandparents to dust off that old record player. I have my fingers crossed that the date won't be pushed back multiple times like the Foxboro stuff was, but let's just be patient and we'll get more details as soon as they come up.

In other side-band news, we got the "official" Foxboro lyrics posted up on the Foxboro page. The lyrics were included in the CD inlay of the Japanese import version of 'Stop Drop & Roll', and were posted on the forum by our friend sharon mitchell. So any lyrics that we still weren't sure about, have been cleared up. If you're one of those people still trying to figure out what the hell Billie Joe is saying in these songs check out this page.
