Hey everyone. I'm sure everyone who applied for the new graphic designer position has been waiting patiently to hear who is joining the GDA team. We had a lot of awesome entries, it was almost impossible to choose. But after a week or so, the team has finally reached a descision.
We'd like to welcome Violeta to the GDA Team. Violeta is 18 years old and is from Bulgaria. She's been a Green Day fan and has been visiting the site since 2004. You can view more of her work here.
Pinhead Gunpowder's newest LP is now available on 4 different color vinyl from Recess Records. These are limited edition in Blue, Red, Clear, and Green vinyl. The LP, titled "Kick Over The Traces," is a collection of Pinhead Gunpowder's greatest hits over the years which was released earlier this summer.
While the vinyl is great for collection, or if you're really into vinyl, most of you don't have a record player. So if you want the CD, you can order it from Amazon.com
Check back tomorrow as we'll be giving away a copy of the white 7" vinyl of "West Side Highway", which includes the title song and "On The Ave."
Quick history lesson for those of you that are confused. Pinhead Gunpowder is a band Billie Joe plays in along with Jason White (Green Day's backup guitarist), Aaron Cometbus and Bill Schneider (Green Day's tour manager). The band has been a part-time side project for all members since the early 90's. They played a few shows last year, then released a new EP titled "7" with 3 songs in August of last year, which you can still find on Amazon.com and iTunes. Earlier this year they followed with a release of their greatest hits, titled "Kick Over the Traces". Full band bio can be found on pinheadgunpowder.com.
Green Day rocked a packed show last night for the last date of the US leg of the 21st Century Breakdown tour at the Forum in Los Angeles, California.
Billie told fans as he got on stage that since it was the last show of this leg of the tour they were going to be playing all night long. The set list included a good amount of rare songs including Tight Wad Hill, Disappearing Boy, 2000 Light Years Away, Macy's Day Parade [acoustic], and Last Night on Earth [acoustic]. A full set list has been posted in the comments.

Spinner.com reviewed the show saying that they went through covering more than four decades of rock.
The band showed serious rock chops in a spot on cover of the opening riff of Van Halen's 'Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love.' But that was just the start of the karaoke. The same medley that incorporated Zeppelin saw Lynyrd Skynyrd coming west with 'Sweet Home California,' Ozzy Osbourne's 'Believer' and a full-crowd sing along of Guns 'N' Roses 'Sweet Child O' Mine.' For good measure, they later tackled the Beastie Boys' 'Girls,' the Rolling Stones' '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' and the Doors' 'Break on Through.'
We have just uploaded our GDA Download of The Week with this week’s download. This week we have put up two rare unreleased songs that were played live at a few shows this tour. The download pack includes the song 'Drama Queen', which was going to be put on 21st Century Breakdown and 'Tell Me when It’s Time to Say I love You', which was going to be put on American Idiot. Click here to go to the Download of The Week page to download these rare songs!
Also, Green Day's video for '21 Guns' has claimed the number one spot on a Danish music Top 10 list called Boogie Listen. This is the first time that Green Day has been on the Boogie Listen top ten list. Thanks to Jelly for passing this along to us.
Green Day was in Sacramento, California yesterday at the Arco Arena to play their second to last tour dates of the US leg of the 21st Century Breakdown tour.
The set list that was preformed for lasts nights show can be described with only one word, "incredible". Some of the highlights from the show include Who Wrote Holden Caulfield, and 2000 Light Years Away off of the Kerplunk album. Other rare songs that were played include J.A.R., Only of You, and Murder City, Last Night on Earth [acoustic], and Drama Queen [acoustic].
If that is not enough for you, this should satisfy your craving! At one point in the show the band even did part of the song Misery from their Warning album. As many fans will tell you this song is hardly ever played. Also another thing thrown into the show yesterday was a third encore after Billie's acoustic encore. During the third encore the full band came out and played the song Going to Pasalacqua.

Green Day was in Las Vegas, Nevada last night at the Mandalay Bay Events Center for one of the final dates of this leg of the 21st Century Breakdown Tour.

Green Day rocked California for the second show in a row in the state last night at the Cox Arena in San Diego.
The set list was pretty average last night and only a few songs were rare. 2000 Light Years Away off of Kerplunk and Disappearing Boy off of 1039/Smoothed out Slappy Hours were the only old songs. During Billie's acoustic encore he played the unreleased track Drama Queen before going into Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).

I've noticed both on here and on GDC that you guys have been talking a lot about this photo that Bob Gruen took at the Madison Square Garden show. Tre is holding a poster that says "Walmart is the Enemy". I figured this was the perfect time to post this. After the MSG show, Mark Schruntek sent me the files of the posters. Enjoy. And thank you Mark!
Last night Green Day played an amazing three hour show at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

Green Day was in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Energy Solutions Arena last night continuing on with their US leg of the 21st Century Breakdown tour.
The Deseret News has posted their review of the show. One highlight from the show was when Billie brought his mom up on stage:
In addition, within the not-quite-sold-out audience, Armstrong's mother and friends were watching from the seats. In fact, Armstrong asked his mom to come onto the stage and introduced her to the screaming crowd. As she left the stage, she stopped and hugged Dirnt and Cool.
You can view this video on YouTube of Billie bringing his mom up on stage.

Billie Joe did a great interview with Maxim magazine. Kudos to them for asking some non-standard, entertaining questions. "Do the curtains match the drapes", "Is it true you sometimes pee the bed?", "What were you like as a kid?". They also talk about his 2003 arrest, and Billie Joe mentions that he'd like to thrown his hat into the ring to be the new "King of Pop".
Click here to read the scan Thanks to aahhhh on the forum for scanning the article. We really need more interviews that show this side of the band. I was getting tired of the constant serious tone in most interviews since 21st Century Breakdown.
Maxim.com also listed Billie Joe in the top 5 Rock Star Performances of "Take Me Out To the Ballgame" (others included Eddie Vedder, Ozzy Osbourne, John Fogerty, and Wilco). Full List here. Billie Joe sang at the Cubs game last month; Tre threw out the first pitch.
After Green Day's day off on Friday they came back last night and rocked an almost sold out show in Denver, Colorado at the Pepsi Center.
The show lasted nearly two hours and forty-five with the band playing songs from all eras. Some of the highlights of the show include Going to Pasalacqua, Murder City, Last Night on Earth, and When I Come Around. Jesus of Suburbia was also brought back onto the set list last night.

Green Day rocked out last night as they continued on with the 21st Century Breakdown tour at the Quest Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Omaha.com has posted a raving review on how well the show went, "Before he played a single note, Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong was in control...o one headed early to their cars to beat traffic, and fans screamed out the words to nearly every song…”.
We have placed a bunch of photos from last night into this album of our Picture Vault.

Billboard.com listed Green Day at #9 in the summers "Hot Tours", based on how much money the tours are bringing in. For one week, July 29th - August 7th, the band brought in $1.3 million.
The #1 spot went to Madonna, who brought in $20 million during the same week for her overseas tour. The biggest difference is that Madonna tickets average nearly $140 each, while most Green Day tickets average $40-$60.
In 2005 Green Day made the top list with the full tour bringing in over $90 million. There have been some comments about Green Day playing smaller venues than they played in 2005. That year marked Green Day's debut at huge stadiums across the US, as well as the 100,000+ attendees to the Milton Keynes shows.
Green Day's tour outside the US is set to begin at the end next month. I expect next year to be Green Day's big year touring again. By then they'll have more of their singles/music videos released and lets remember that these tour tickets first went on sale before the album was even released. People who missed the chance to get tickets the first time because they didn't know the band was touring, will be more aware next time around, just as in 2005 after American Idiot was out for a while.
Green Day continued rocking thousands last night when they played the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Changes to last night's setlist included the addition of JAR, Macy's Day Parade (acoustic), and Last Night on Earth (acoustic), again no Jesus of Suburbia. The full setlist is posted in the comment section.

YouTube.com user p1cklepincher has uploaded a few videos from last night’s show that you can view by clicking here.
Contact Music and Spinner UK both have articles about Green Day's pranks on their supporting act, Kaiser Chiefs, on their last night of opening up for Green Day
GREEN DAY marked the departure of the KAISER CHIEFS from their ongoing U.S. tour by playing a series of pranks on the British rockers - including hiring a brass band to invade the stage during their set. ... Toilet Paper. They T.P.'d us," Hodgson said of Green Day's on stage sayonara. "[They covered our] drums, instruments. It was live on stage. We got T.P.'d
411Mania.com has a two part article about Green Day's history. They cover everything from the start of the band just over 20 years ago and go through talking about each era. [News via Nothing Wrong With Me]

Today our hearts go out to The Mystic Knights Of The Cobra. Guitar player Paul Dominguez aka "Call me Donnie Cobra" tragically drowned yesterday. Having toured with the Foxboro Hot Tubs he is someone we consider part of the Green Day family. He will be deeply missed.
R.I.P. Paul Dominguez. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
As previously reported, Green Day was nominated for a Teen Choice Award for Choice Rock Group and Rock Track for Know Your Enemy. They lost Choice Rock Group and Rock Track to Paramore. Really, I'd be more upset if they lost a Grammy nom to someone like the Jonas Brothers or Paramore....now, is that gonna happen? Most likely not. And that's all I have to say about that.
Lastly, Rolling Stone has a review of the tour from the Philadelphia show at the Wachovia Spectrum in the latest issue. You can read it here. There is also a behind the scenes look at the tour and pictures, here. I'm in picture #7, right before Billie squirted with me with the super soaker for what seemed like forever. :)

Nola.com posted up their review of last nights show and really has a hard time to say anything bad about the concert. The worst thing that they said in the whole review is that a lot of the seats in the upper deck were empty. Other then that they comment on how they are "very good at being Green Day".
Wanna be a member of the GDA team? We're currently looking for a new graphic designer! We need someone who obviously is skilled in Photoshop, reliable, and able to work well in a team environment.
So do you think you're ready to join this team? What we want you to do, is make and submit one of our main banners for GDA. The banner should be 934px X 100px in size. It needs to say "The Green Day Authority" somewhere on the banner. It also should include newer pictures of the band, in which can be found in our lovely Picture Vault. Once you think you're ready to submit your banner for us to review, go to the Help GDA page and submit your form. You will need to upload your banner to a service such as Photobucket or Image Shack and provide the link to us.
That's it! Have fun, be creative and unique, and good luck!

Last night Green Day rocked the American Airlines Arena in Miami FL. The set list during the show seems pretty normal, no real rare songs were played, however, the sound check seems amazing!
Green Day played songs they haven't played in years, songs like Warning, Private Ale, and Green Day. YouTube.com user cubanfinestguy was able to get a camera into the sound check and record it, so check that out!
