I could tell you over and over again just how awesome Green Day are and I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time you heard it, especially since this is a review of a Green Day SHOW, the best fucking show on the planet, but if you weren't at this show you DEFINITELY missed out. This was their last show of the tour and Green Day made sure to make it a-m-a-z-i-n-g!
They of course came out and immediately jumped into "American Idiot". After that was "Jesus of Suburbia". I don't know how, but after 6 shows, their energy while playing this song just seems to get more and more intense! Green Day also played some new fan favorites like "Holiday" and "St. Jimmy".
After that was "Longview" and then "Hitchin a Ride",where, of course, Billie pulls off a completely convincing masterbation which is obviously one of the highlights of the show. Tre also surprised everyone with jumping on stage and singing a little of "All By Myself".
The best part of the show to me though, was when Billie brought a little kid on stage to shoot a water gun at the crowd. The kid looked familiar and had a backstage pass on. A minute later Billie waves him over to the middle of the stage and as he's walking him down the catwalk he mouths to the crowd "Joey" and it's Billies oldest son Joey! Me and everyone else went INSANE. That is definitely something you don't see at every show. Ask anyone there and they'll tell you that was the happiest that anyone has ever seen Billie.
If that wasn't enough, Green Day surprised the crowd again by playing "J.A.R."!! That song is definitely one of those classic songs that should be played at every show! Billie had an unbelieveable amount of emotion playing that song.
Then came time for "King for a Day", one of those hardcore fans-only songs and then "Knowledge" where the band picked three ordinary kids to jump on stage and play in front of at least 30,000 screaming people. The band also played kick ass classics like "She", "Brain Stew", "Basketcase", and the newest single "Wake Me Up When September Ends".
When it came time for their encore and after tons and tons of thanks you's from Billie, the band kicked into "Homecoming"! It was unbelieveable I REALLY wish they would play that more! Everyone got to see Billie, Mike, and Tre all sing one song so obviously "Homecoming" was the best part of the show. After "Homecoming" everyone except for Billie left the stage and all that was left was one spotlight on Billie and a ton of confetti on stage. He sang "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" and it was definitely emotional to watch since that was their last show of the tour. Every person I know to have gone to at least one show on this tour has said that it was definitely the time of their life and has completely changed their lives. I don't know how Green Day will top the next tour, but I know they will!
