<>Apart from the fact that Green Day always performs to the best of their ability in all performances. I was gobsmacked...I'm 14 and had to sit in the general seating a football field away from the stage but in the end it didn't matter at all. Green Day played amazingly (if that's a word) for each song. The night kicked off with of course...the pink bunny doing what he does best...drinking. Then of course, along comes Green Day with Billie Joe downing half a bottle of the all-Australian beer...VB (Victoria Bitter) and then burping into the microphone. Introductions were of course needed introducing Jason White, Jason Freese and Ronnie Blake as per usual to Bullet in a Bible, introducing Mike as "a man I've been sleeping with for the last 17 (yes he said 17) years nad the best fucking bass player in the history of Punk Rock", introducing Tre with "and, a man that needs no introduction, so FUCK HIM! (of course the crowd cheered for this and Tre mouthed "oh yeah baby") but then did introduce him as the greatest drum in the history of rock and roll. Butsong list but there were songs such as: American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday, Are We The Waiting, St. jimmy, Give Me Novacain, I Fought The Law (Originally by The Clash), Homecoming, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Minority, We Are The Champions (Originally by Queen), King For A Day, Shout, Always Look On The Bright Side of Life, Stand By Me, Hitchin A Ride, Brain Stew, Jaded, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Basket Case, She, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) and Knowledge. And of course, in Green Day tradition, when Knowledge was played the crowd errupted in cheers when Billie announced "Now, tonight, we're gonna make a band up here....from the crowd!"...The 12 year old guitarist that was chosen a boy named Steven not only got to play Billie Joe's Black guitar with pink stars and "GREEN DAY" written on it in white but he also took the guitar home with him THAT NIGHT! Yes one lucky boy is now with the possession of one of Billie Joe's many guitars. Two boys were also picked to squirt the crowd with water guns. A girl was picked to play bass and a man (probably 17+) was picked to play drums. The night was not only spectacular, it was intimate, I'm sure I speak on behalf of most of the people there when I say that if any song connected to them emotionally and was played that night felt like the song was being played just for them. No words can describe how amazing the concert was but Green Day...THANK YOU! |
