<>My friends and I arrived at Telstra Dome around 2:00PM, and even then, quite a few people were lining up. The idiot zone was packed, and the Arena B line was starting to form a crowd. At 4:30, like planned, the Idiot Zone were allowed into the Stadium. This took a while, as practicly every fan was made to do a routine 'pat down' check. The idiot zone kept going and going, and we were finally allowed into the Arena at 5:15pm...which was a bitch as we were told 4:30. Once we entered the arena, we were right up front of Arena B, and could see pretty well. Before the concert started, some kid jumped the barrier to try and get into Idiot Zone. I got a laugh when the fat security guard sprinted to stop this kid...and then decked him!
My chemical Romance came on at 6:50, and played some of their hits. Personally, i have never liked MCR, and if i was seated, i would've gone walk-about during teir act, however, i was shocked! MCR are so much better live. From asking us to get our lighters/phones out, to leading us into "hey, ho's", they did a pretty good job. Unfortuantly, Not many knew their songs, and a lot of the stadium was dead during their act...which was a shame as they did such a great job!. MCR got off stage at around 7:20.
After a quick stage and set change, Jimmy Eat World came out at 7:35 ripping into Pain, which had quite a lot of the audience singing a long! The filled in time with a few of their other sonsg, but finished with the middle- this had everyone singing, and sweetness- what can i say, it was fantastic! After thankyou's and some smashing of a guitar, the band left the stage and we were once again left to wait for the greatest band ever!
I have to note, that during MCR and JEW, there was a lot of pushing and shoving during their acts. In fact, many people had to leave because they felt like they were going to faint. That was when the security guards finally realised that it would be a good idea to spray us, and quench our thirsts with water...nice work guys!
After a while, the pink bunny came out getting drunk and dancing around...getting us all pumped. Might i say, it was quite a laugh to watch the WHOLE ARENA join in to singing and dancing to YMCA...
Well, After the set change, Green Day came on at 8:45 to Ric Flairs theme ( sorry, dunno the real name). The roof opened and they immediatly jumped into American Idiot which had the whole audience singing along.
They then sang Jesus of Suburbia, which Billie said was 'close to his heart'. After finishing the 9 minute song, which might i add, had everyone singing, jumping and cheering for the whole time, they played songs from the American Idiot Album. When Holiday started, and billy announced that this was 'anti war', everyone screamed, and sung a long. We then witnessed more songs like St Jimmy/Are we the waiting, Give me novacaine, Wake me up when september ends( this was a real sing-a-long. At this stage, it started to rain, in which Billie said "here comes the rain again". This was a nice touch.
Green Day then leapt into favourites like She, Basketcase, Longview, Brainstew, King for a day- etc. King for a day was great...all the costumes were great...i love Tre's hat! Oh, and the Trumpet and Trombone ( santa and his elf) players pretended to have sex on stage...that was...uh...strange...no...funny?
Soon enough, Billie 'ended the night with Minority which was easily the second loudest song of the night( the biggest being Holiday). Everyone got into action when they heard the starting tune, and everyone was jumping to the song the whole time. they even had time to stick the middle finger in the air when we got to "so free for all, fuck em all". After Minority, The band left the stage, and the green day sign came on.
Green Day came out again playing to Boulevard of broken dreams( a great sing-a-long), and I fought the Law...with Chris Cheney( for those that don't know, he's from the Living End! Suck on that Sydney! It was great when Green Day sung "i fought the law" and te crowd responded " and te law won"...We then heard 'we are the champions' which was a great sing-a-long, filled with swaying and mobile phones/lighters. After this, the band left the stage, and billie stayed to play the final song- time of your life.
This was easily the best song- as everyone knew every single word.
Well, i waited for 90 days for the concert, and now it's over. Am i sad? No. I just witnessed the greatest concert ever, and i am so going to the next one!
Sorry if this was a little Long :P
