2 years ago:

It was confirmed that Prima Donna would be supporting Green Day for their upcoming european tour starting in September, through October (or 'Rocktober' to some fans) and early November. Could this mean a Foxboro Hot Tubs show was on the cards...?

In 2006:

Green Day announced that they would be going in to the studio to record a cover of The Skids song "The Saints Are Coming" with U2.

In 1994:

Green Day performed Armatage Shanks at the VMA's at Radio City Music Hall in New York, more than a year before the release of Insomniac.

The following day there was some controversy as the band scheduled a free concert in the Hatch Shell at the Boston Opera House. A larger than expected crowd of over 100,000 turned up and was the cause of some rowdy scenes. During the song Longview, Billie Joe jumped off the stage into a flowerbed and began ripping it up. The chaotic scenes eventually led to the police shutting off the power and bringing the show to a premature end.

In 1993:

On September 8th, Green Day performed at 924 Gilman Street for the penultimate time before leaving independent label Lookout! Records to sign for major label, Reprise Records. Although the band would return to play at Gilman Street in later years, this would herald a period of Green Day being shunned by the venue and the local punk scene.
