[caption=Green Day playing at Irving Plaza in 2004]090612_greendayirving.jpg[/caption]Last night, right before the the chaos of Green Day's killer performance of "Let Yourself Go" on the MTV Video Music Awards, Green Day announced that they would be playing a surprise show in New York City. The show will take place next Saturday the 15th at Irving Plaza.

Details on how tickets can be purchased has yet to be released. Rolling Stone announced that you can earn points on Green Day's "Numero Uno Tab" on their Facebook page to be entered to win a pair of tickets.
