  • Garret K. Woodward: "I've been truly lucky to see thousands and thousands of live concerts over the years, and, truth-be-told, my FIRST (real deal) concert (by myself) was Green Day. May 1998. I was 13 years old. My mom dropped me off at Memorial Auditorium in downtown Burlington, Vermont. Green Day was touring their landmark album Nimrod. As a nerdy-looking kid (coke bottle glasses and gel in my hair), who was 100 pounds soaking wet at that time, I wandered the old auditorium (a gymnasium) and found a seat way up on the wrap-around balcony. I watched the band destroy not only my eardrums, but also what I thought music was. They kickstarted something within me, where I found myself thinking, 'I want to always be around this feeling I have.' (Which was live music.) And, I've been on that quest ever since. So, thanks Billie Joe and Co."
