[pic=Green Day performing at the Fox Theater]031213_bja.jpg[/pic]Over the past few days the media has been buzzing with reviews from Green Day's highly anticipated comeback shows at the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA and The Marquee in Tempe, AZ.

Rolling Stone was one of the first publications to post their recap of Green Day's show at the Fox Theater. The article commends Green Day for their straight up performance without any major props.

At the Fox, there were no special effects and big production values, just a punk band with a mountain of amps and a pocketful of pop hooks. As in the past, Green Day's core trio were joined by three more players on guitar, keyboards and vocals. The 2005 hit "Holiday" rode a liquid bassline from Mike Dirnt, and the lights went down as Armstrong scanned the crowd with a searchlight. He grabbed the mic again, shouting, 'The representative from California has the floor!'

A slue of other publications soon followed Rolling Stone's lead and posted their own reviews of the shows, below are some of my favorites that I've read through so far.
- Paste Magazine - This review of the Fox Theater show includes a list of notes from throughout the show. Apparently Green Day seemed "to large for the stage."
- Phoenix New Times - A three page review of Green Day's show at The Marquee that simply puts it that "Phoenix is pretty damn lucky."
- Orange County Register - Another review from the Fox Theater show, this one claims that Green Day can give you major post concert depression.
