If GDA has money left over any given month, we try to donate to the American

I first signed online in 1995, when I was 13 years old. I had a website
for my favorite actor at that point, and it became one of the biggest websites
for him. After awhile, I became a Community Leader (CL) for the Geocities
Hollywood Hills Community. A CL is a person who helps others with their websites
and Geocities questions. After I ended the actor's page, I started Courtney's
Music Page, which featured Green Day (of course), Bush, the Smashing Pumpkins,
and other bands I liked. That was short lived. I then made my entire site into a
personal website. In the Summer of 2000, I was at college, and I was bored. So I
would get online often. I noticed that all the Green Day sites were going
downhill, so I was so bored, I got an ambitition to make my own. And that was
how Courtney's Green Day Page was born. It was originally an extension of my
personal site. When Minority came out, I changed the name to |: The Green Day
Minority :|. The site began to grow, but gradually. I wanted to end my personal
page, and it was sad to see it go, but I wanted to have a huge dedication to my
favorite band. So in July of 2001, I decided to buy a domain. It was gonna be
greendayminority.com but then I thought I might change the name of my site to
The Green Day Authority. I polled some of my friends, and as you can see, the
greendayauthority.com was decided. On July 12, 2001, GDA was officially born.
The rest is history in the making.

When I first started my Green Day page, I was pissed off because one of the biggest GD sites out there went down. I've always thought it would be great to have my own Green Day site, and I wanted to do something to give back to my favorite band besides buying their merchandise and CDs. I remember watching a video on that old site of Green Day doing an interview, and the guy asked them if they ever visit fansites, and I remember Mike mentioned a few and that was one of them. I always wanted to bring my site up to that level, and I feel that with GDA, we have accomplished that. When I spoke to Billie Joe and he knew about my website, it just made me more proud of the work I do on the site. I love working on GDA and I hope it will remain up as long as GreenDay.net and GreenDay.com will be.

I joined the team here in early 2004. I had been visiting GDA for a couple years by then, but I noticed the site wasn't being updated much anymore at that time. Turns out Courtney and (then webmaster) Matt, were a bit too busy and had little time for the site. So I asked to join just to help with news
updates. After a few months I finally got the nerve to start my own section, the media section. I felt the only thing missing on this
(already impressive) site was a media download section. So I moved with the idea and lucky for me it helped keep me around.
Today I overlook most things that happen with GDA. As administrator it is my
fulltime job to maintain the site and keep it running usually 24 hours a day.
I've learned so much about everything from programming to server maintenance and
I've even picked up some very valuable people skills. I really do owe a lot to
Courtney for giving me the chance to join the team (even though I kinda lied on
my résumé at the time about knowing programming...ssshhh). This has been by far
the best experience in my life. Not only do I get to spend most of my day
reading about my favorite band, but I get to interact with thousands of visitors
who share at least one thing in common with me. I thank you all for your amazing
support you've given GDA over the past couple years. It's been a really
eye-opening experience and I'm glad I've been here to have it. Andres

When Andres told me he needed a break, he then asked me if I would be interested in taking over some of his responsibilities. I was obviously very exited to join the team. I really love working for GDA, not only having the honor of giving everyone the most
recent news and updates, but I get to learn so much as well. It has also been fun working on the fan sections and creating some new ones along the way. The amount of emails that I recieve telling me how they would not be able to live without GDA just makes me feel so amazing. It shows how far this site really has come, and how big it is.
Hell, Green Day even comes here. I would also like to thank everyone who sends in news and reviews for concerts, and all the fan stuff. Its people like you that make the site able to be exciting and interesting. I love you all.
