  • Skibum00: "Green Day - Insomniac Tour, November 5th, 1995 - Harrisburg Farm Show Complex. I was 13."
  • Rock With Tom: "The Riverdales opened the show. They weren’t bad, but the crowd gave them a hard time. I remember their singer joking that they would play additional songs and make us wait longer for Green Day. They didn't play very long, but the audience was relieved when their set ended. Like most things I do for the first time, I had no idea what was going on or what I was doing. I recall cheering for the roadies as they disassembled The Riverdales’ gear because another set of roadies brought out Blue. Blue is the nickname for Billie Joe Armstrong’s Fender guitar. The same guitar that I saw on TV was literally in front of my face! We had fought our way to the front of the crowd and when that guy brought out Blue the crowd cheered like the Philadelphia Eagles had just won the SuperBowl! Although, the guitar being there actually happened. This is the part were I really wish I had a better memory. I can’t remember Green Day’s set list and I haven’t been able to find it online. I found set lists from other nights on the tour, but not this particular show. Oh well. It was the Insomniac tour so the songs I do remember them playing were pretty awesome: Basket Case, Chump, Longview, When I Come Around, Geek Stink Breath, 2,000 Light Years Away, She, etc. Billie Joe had some funny comments about the place smelling like shit since we were at the State Farm Show Arena. He was right. Including the 'encore' break, Green Day played for about an hour. When your songs are 3 minutes in length, that isn't bad; however, I definitely wanted to hear more. That November night in the shit-smelling State Farm Show Arena changed my life. I was completely hooked on the live music experience. The kids there were my age and I felt like I was a part of something greater. These were my people. Like a fat person at a Chinese buffet, I felt like I belonged. I even crowd surfed and got in the most pits. Some butthole kicked me in the head while crowd surfing which gave me a headache the next morning. I should have thanked him because I got to stay home from school the next day. When I returned to school, I remember people asking me how the show was. I couldn't stop talking about it. The same idiots who gave me a hard time for dying my hair green were asking me how the concert was. If only the phrase 'cool story, bro' existed in 1995."
