USA Network named it's 2010 "Character Approved" artists, an event to "honor the characters who are changing the face of American culture". Green Day was listed for their contribution to music, placed alongside a group of individuals from their respective fields, such as writing, film, food, art, architecture, design, and fashion.

Excerpt from their summary:
"Character Approved honorees are innovators in their field who are influencing our opinions, our style and our view of the world. They surprise us and inspire us with fresh ideas. They are celebrated by their peers and have an authentic style. USA recognizes these ten individuals for their cultural impact, legacy and persona with the hallmark of recognition, the USA Network "seal of approval.""

There will be an event tomorrow, February 25th, in New York city to honor the ten honorees chosen this year. Members of the American Idiot musical cast will be performing at the event. Over the next six weeks, USA Network will debut vignettes airing on their channel focusing on an "inside look at the lives, the works and influences of these characters."
