Despite Billie Joe's recent trip to the hospital Green Day will still be playing the VMAs

After Billie Joe's recent trip to the hospital in Italy earlier this week that caused the band to cancel the last date of their European tour, rumors began to float around that the band would be unable to perform at Thursday's VMAs awards show. Earlier today, MTV News was able to confirm that Green Day would indeed still be able to play the show.
Other than having sharp stomach pains we don't know much more about Billie's hospitalization. Thankfully this wasn't something more serious that kept Billie in the hospital longer.

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards are set to air tomorrow night at 8 p.m. ET/PT. MTV says that the band will "debut" a song from ¡Uno!. Does that mean a new song? I guess we'll find out tomorrow night.
