[pic=Green Day on the 99 Revolutions tour]040313_99revstour.jpg[/pic]Believe it or not, a week has already passed since Green Day embarked on the North American leg of their 99 Revolutions tour. From what we've heard (and seen, in Matt and Jack's cases!) here at GDA, the shows have been everything the fans have wanted.

Setlist-wise, it looks like the band is sticking to the same basic setlist each night, with some small variations from show to show. During the show, a fair amount of new songs from the ¡UNO! ¡DOS! ¡TRÉ! trilogy have been played, including "99 Revolutions," "Stay The Night," "Stop When the Red Lights Flash," "Oh Love," "X-Kid," "Stray Heart," and "Brutal Love."

Out of all of the reviews that I've seen of Green Day's arena shows to date, none have been quite as good as Entertainment Weekly's recap of last week's Rosemont, IL show. The reviewer, Kyle Anderson, is a fan himself, and gives his "21 thoughts" on Green Day's show in Rosemont.
[quotefull]Green Day chose excellent pre-show PA music, including Prince’s 'Kiss,' Devo’s 'Whip It,' the Clash’s 'Tommy Gun,' and Motorhead’s 'Ace of Spades.' Just before the band took the stage, Queen’s 'Bohemian Rhapsody' played out, and in a weirdly moving few minutes, most everybody in the arena sang along at the top of their lungs. It almost upstaged Green Day’s actual entrance a few moments later. Who else but Freddie Mercury could rule in absentia like that?[/quotefull]
Below are a few other reviews that I really enjoyed:
- Illuminoise: (A nice recap of Green Day's Moline set, including an awesome photo gallery.)
- Post Gazette: (A review that praises the way Green Day can effortlessly control an arena's energy.)

Tonight, Green Day will be playing the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA, before making their way up the east coast. They'll then play shows in Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island.
