Billie Joe Armstrong to perform at Ramones 50th anniversary tribute
Billie Joe Armstrong has teamed up with Rancid's Tim Armstrong, blink-182's Travis Barker, and former Ramones bassist C.J. Ramone to form the new supergroup, Cretin Family, for an upcoming Ramones tribute show.
The group will perform at The Ramones 50th Anniversary Tribute concert on August 30th at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, featuring host John Travolta. Several surprise guests will join Cretin Family throughout their set.
The event will also include a double-feature screening of Travolta's new film, Propeller One-Way Night Coach and the classic horror movie Carrie (also celebrating its 50th anniversary). Tickets are available here, with proceeds benefiting the David Agus MD Cancer Research at Ellison Institute.
Green Day performed at the 2002 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the Ramones' induction, which you can watch below.

""The spirit of the Ramones is alive in every backyard punk show, punk club, and festival," Billie Joe Armstrong said in a statement. "Generation after generation of cretins and weirdos become Ramones lovers. Kids are influenced by the Ramones and they don't even know it yet. ¡Viva Ramones!"
The sentiment is echoed by Barker ("The Ramones are the blueprint. Punk rock wouldn't be what it is today without them. I'm honored to celebrate 50 years of one of the greatest bands ever!!!"), Tim Armstrong ("From the moment I first heard the Ramones, music was never the same"), and C.J. Ramone ("This is gonna be the biggest celebration of the Ramones anyone has seen for a long time!!!")."
