Green Day managed to fit a Coverups show, a surprise acoustic performance, an ice cream giveaway, a movie press stop and a meeting with the Rizzler into two days at San Diego Comic-Con.

The run started Thursday night when The Coverups headlined Fandom's 9th annual Comic-Con party at the Hard Rock Hotel. You can see the full setlist and show details in GDA's tour section.

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson joined the band five songs into the set for "All the Young Dudes," the David Bowie song originally recorded by Mott the Hoople. Billie Joe also dedicated the band's cover of Nirvana's "Drain You" to late L7 bassist Jennifer Finch.

The set covered everything from the Ramones and Buzzcocks to Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe and The Strokes. They even played "Do You Wanna Dance?" twice because, according to the notes from the show, not enough people danced the first time. Deadline included The Coverups' performance in its roundup of Comic-Con parties.

Billie, Mike and Tré were back to Green Day business Friday to promoted the Nimrods movie. The band joined Mason Thames, Jenna Fischer and director Lee Kirk for Variety's Comic-Con interview studio at The Pendry. The Variety interview focuses on developing the fictional story with director Lee Kirk and stars Mason Thames and Jenna Fischer.

They were also interviewed by IGN where they discussed the band making this movie and whether the long-discussed "American Idiot" adaptation could still happen.
"We've talked about it a lot. We've talked to Michael Mayer, the director who did the 'American Idiot' musical, so there's talks. There's always talks about it, but we just have to figure out when."

After the press was done, a branded "Nimrods" ice cream truck pulled up at Gallagher Square outside Petco Park Friday afternoon with Green Day and members of the movie's cast standing on top. Billie then grabbed an acoustic guitar and played a medley of "Basket Case" and "One of My Lies."Thanks to dizzyboi04 for sharing the video.

Green Day, Thames, Fischer and Kirk also handed out and tossed ice cream and "Nimrods" shirts to the crowd. The surprise appearance had only been announced earlier that day, giving nearby fans a few hours to get to Gallagher Square.

Somewhere in the middle of all this, Green Day also posed with the Rizzler. Because of course they did.
