SPIN Magazine: "Green Day were up next, sprinting onstage like linebackers out of a huddle and immediately slamming into the rocking Maria, one of the previously unreleased songs on 2001's International Superhits! compilation. Shucking off their increasingly mellow public demeanor, Green Day seemed reborn. The superhits shot out like streams of water from the water cannon that singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong occasionally used to drench the crowd; the band took care of Longview, Welcome To Paradise, and Brain Stew in the first ten minutes. At one point, Armstrong plucked three fans out of the audience to take over the band's instruments for a version of Operation Ivy's Knowledge. Armstrong played the jacked-up chorus leader, French-kissing the dude on guitar and instructing the jazzy bassist not to 'get fancy.' When the song ended, he gave his young understudy an electric guitar as a parting gift. After a solo encore of the unabashedly sentimental Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life), featuring 1,001 teens holding up their cell phones (the 21st-century lighter), Armstrong stomped off to raging applause."
