This is the first in-depth interview with Green Day about the new albums and what we can expect. Rolling Stone senior editor, David Fricke, sat down with Green Day at Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles.

The biggest news to surface from the article is that there will be a total of 36 songs released on the upcoming trilogy of albums. Billie Joe describes the albums like this:



Producer Rob Cavallo says "We wanted to go back to the simplicity of Dookie."

The band started writing new music on the 21st Century Breakdown tour and wrote over 70 songs. Mike mentions they have been rehearsing and fine-tuning the songs for the last year. Included in the track list is the Amy Winehouse tribute "Amy" which was first played last year in Costa Mesa, CA.
