[img=101911_Gilman.jpg]The legendary volunteer run club 924 Gilman Street is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. To commemorate, UGZ Magazine have been posting these "sound-bite" interviews with people who have volunteered for the club during it's 25 years.

There are some interesting stories about the punk scene that grew around the the East Bay venue, which Green Day, of course were a part of.

You can hear Jeff Armstrong talking about a story his brother Tim (now of Rancid) tells of when he read about 924 Gilman Street opening in Maximum Rock 'n' Roll Magazine while he was on his way to New York, and his excitement to come back to it.

It's really worth checking out if you want to learn a bit more about the community that gave Green Day and many other bands to this day, a place to play their music.

You can listen to the interviews on the UGZ Magazine Blog Spot.

Big thanks to Abbey Fox for the heads up!
