Hi all, my name's Aska (better known as pasalaska on our forum), and I'm a moderator on the [turl=http://www.greendaycommunity.org]Green Day Community[/turl]. My job there, amongst other things, is to run a little something we call Song of the Week.

Song of the Week is a weekly event on the GDC, where a Green Day song is chosen from a list of user-nominated songs, for discussion. Things like song meanings, live performances, personal opinion and song structure, as well as anything else relating to the week's song can be discussed in the SotW threads.

This week's Song of the Week is live staple Are We The Waiting off 2004's American Idiot. This song is a pivotal point in the story line of the album, as it's the lead-up to the birth of Saint Jimmy; as Billie Joe himself said, "it's the point in the record where the character is on the verge of losing his mind". Live, Are We The Waiting is a crowd favourite, as it's one of a few songs where Billie will bring a fan from the audience up on stage to sing with and be serenaded by him. .

I've chosen my favourite Are We The Waiting fan-on-stage moment, which occurred at Green Day's 2010 concert in Irvine, California, as this week's video (which also includes part of the song St. Jimmy).
