[pic="Walking Contradiction" promo Converse]060314__57.jpeg[/pic]We've got some extremely cool and extremely rare items to promote this week. I had never before seen these on eBay, or anywhere...and believe you me, I get around eBay.

In 1996, Reprise Records' New England branch, WEA, partnered with Converse (then based in New England) to manufacture and release a limited number of promotional shoes in support of Green Day's new single, "Walking Contradiction." This song was the last single from 1995's Insomniac. The special-edition Converse weren't available for sale -- only to music business executives, radio DJs, and a select few others in the New England region.

The shoes are All-Star Chuck Taylor High-Tops, black, with an orange "Green Day" logo patch on one shoe, and a green "Walking Contradiction" patch on the other. Interestingly enough, two pairs of these shoes (from two different sellers) popped up on eBay within a few weeks of each other. So, there's a new, mint-condition pair (US size 9.5), and a cheaper, used pair (US size 10). Each is at auction with a Buy-It-Now option. Check them out, and grab a pair!
