[pic=Bill Schneider and Billie Joe Armstrong]030615_bja-bill.png[/pic]According to EastBayExpress.com, Billie Joe is set to open a new store called "Broken Guitars" this April in Oakland.

Joining Billie Joe in the new business venture is long-time friend and former Green Day manager Bill Schneider.

The Broken Guitars shop will be located at 423 40th St in Oakland, California. The store happens to be the former location of and right across the street from 1-2-3-4 GO! Records, a record store/gig space which has played home to a few Green Day-related events over the past few years. Schneider says he wanted to open the shop back in 2012 across from 1-2-3-4 GO! but missed the opportunity to lease the space.

Schneider says the shop will open with about 75 guitars on the wall, mostly stocked from the personal collections of himself and Billie Joe. The store will also sell amplifiers, most likely Schneider's own brand Dexter, and offer full-service repairs for instruments and amplifiers.
We want to be a shop for musicians," Schneider said, "The focus is used American guitars: Gretsch, Fender, and not necessarily just vintage ones.
Schneider says that the target audience will be "players on a budget" by offering most of their guitars at a price between $400 and $800.

More information about the store and a short story behind the idea for the business can be found over on EastBayExpress.com. There appears to be a website for the business, BrokenGuitarsOakland.com, but it is still in development.
