On April 3, it was announced that David Letterman will retire in 2015. Because of the tremendous success of The Late Show with David Letterman, we thought we'd take a look at each of Green Day's appearances as musical guests over the years. Also, we'd like to highlight Tré's...*special*...relationship with Mr. Letterman. The ongoing jokes between the two are priceless; just watch the ends of the videos closely. We've also included a notable quote above each video.

Green Day has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman a whopping 10 times...Letterman hasn't specified the exact date of his departure, but it would be really great to see the band on the show one more time before his 2015 retirement comes around. Enjoy the videos below!

June 29, 1994: "Basket Case":

- Billie Joe: "Hi...this song's for Adie."

November 8, 1995: "86":

- David Letterman: "Last time they were on our program, they scared the hell out of me..."

May 9, 1996: "Walking Contradiction":

- David Letterman: "Save me a place in the mosh pit, kids!"

October 14, 1997: "Hitchin' A Ride":

- David Letterman: "Oh my God..."

May 7, 1998: "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)":

- David Letterman: "Where's the drummer?...The thing I like about when we have them on the show: at the end of the song, the drummer runs around and hurts himself. Will you do that tonight?"

October 2, 2000: "Minority":

- David Letterman: "Is the drummer here? Oh, this is gonna be good..."

April 26, 2001: "Waiting":

- David Letterman: "Every time on the show, the drummer, who's unstable, does something strange and he hurts himself. And the last time he was here, he leapt off the drum platform and hit the deck, and we took him to the hospital...it just knocked the wind out of him, he was fine...but he was hospitalized for three days. So, just keep your eye on the drummer...whenever our next guests are on the show, we just hope and pray they don't break anything."

September 20, 2004: "American Idiot":

- David Letterman: "See? There's something wrong with him."

January 3, 2005: "Boulevard of Broken Dreams":

- David Letterman: "Oh my God, is he alright?! Are you alright, son?!"

May 18, 2009: "East Jesus Nowhere":

- David Letterman: "Nice going! How about that guy?!"
