Green Day's "Bang Bang" nominated for Best Rock at 2017 MTV VMAs

MTV today has announced the nominations for the 2017 edition of their popular awards show, the MTV Video Music Awards.

Amongst the nominations is Green Day's lead single from Revolution Radio, "Bang Bang". The song is up for "Best Rock" and is pitted against a stiff competition in Foo Fighters, Twentyone Pilots, and more.

BEST ROCK
Coldplay – "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Fall Out Boy – "Young And Menace"
Twenty One Pilots – "Heavydirtysoul"
Green Day – "Bang Bang"
Foo Fighters – "Run"

The awards show will take place at the Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday, August 27th. You can watch the show on MTV starting at 8pm ET.

Unless the band makes a one-night-only, cross-country trip to California, I doubt they will be there to perform or to accept if they were to win the Best Rock award. During the weekend of the awards show, the band will be in the middle of their Revolution Radio Tour on the East Coast.
